The role at SP Plus is pivotal within their mission to redefine parking facility operations through attentive customer service and efficient lot management. This job entails ensuring that an appropriate number of vehicles are maintained on-site throughout the shift, parking regulations are adhered to, and that the property remains clean and welcoming. The Parking Attendant will be responsible for directing incoming customers to available parking spaces, monitoring vehicle counts, and issuing violation warnings to tenants and visitors who breach garage policies. This position demands proactive engagement with customers, including assisting those who have forgotten their vehicle locations, controlling traffic at entrances and exits, and providing courteous responses to inquiries. In addition, the Parking Attendant will patrol parking levels, maintain knowledge of the garage and surrounding city landscape, and assist in the maintenance of parking equipment as needed. The role requires punctuality, professionalism, uniform adherence, and the capability to report safety hazards, accidents, and unusual occurrences in a timely manner. It is a physically active position involving standing, walking, occasional lifting, and other duties that ensure the smooth operation and safety of the parking facility.

Job Requirements

  • Less than high school education or one month related experience, training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Valid state-issued driver's license with current address and acceptable driving record if driving company vehicle or on company business is required
  • Availability to work varied shifts including 2nd, 3rd shifts, and/or weekends as needed
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations with American money
  • Maintain neat and clean appearance and wear uniform at all times
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, use hands, occasionally sit, climb, balance and lift or move up to 25 pounds
  • Punctuality and adherence to scheduled work days and uniform policies

Job Qualifications

  • Less than high school education or one month related experience, training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations to customers and employees
  • Ability to add, subtract two-digit numbers and multiply and divide with 10s and 100s
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical operations with units of American money
  • Maintain neat and clean appearance and wear complete uniform at all times

Job Duties

  • Ensure that appropriate number of cars is kept on location throughout shift
  • Ensure cars are parked in an appropriate fashion and the lot is kept clean and presentable
  • Direct incoming customers to available parking spaces
  • Count vehicles on location throughout shift as needed
  • Write and issue violation warnings to tenants and visitors that violate garage policies
  • Patrol transient and reserved parking levels on foot or in motor carts if applicable
  • Provide assistance to customers who have forgotten their parked vehicle location
  • Be punctual and in uniform for every scheduled day
  • Courteously assist customers by answering questions or directing them to the Facility Manager
  • Control traffic at entrances and exits as needed
  • Assist in maintenance and repair of parking equipment and general maintenance tasks as directed
  • Report any accidents, policy violations, safety hazards, or unusual occurrences to the Facility Manager
  • Communicate debris, water, oil spills etc. to garage office
  • Substitute for Valets when authorized
  • Possess thorough knowledge of all areas of the garage, major streets, landmarks and freeways nearby
  • Assist Facility Manager with other duties as needed
