Job Description

The position is offered by a collegiate athletic department that prioritizes the smooth operation and management of athletic events hosted at its facilities such as Barnes gym and home fields. This institution focuses on creating a professional and organized event environment, ensuring both the home team and visiting teams have a seamless and well-managed experience. The college is committed to fostering professional growth in its student workers by helping them develop key competencies needed for their future careers. These core values include service, diligence, faithfulness, selflessness, integrity, resourcefulness, and humility, shaping a work culture that promotes accountability, teamwork, and leadership.

This part-time role, expecting a commitment of 10 to 20 hours per week, is designed primarily for current or incoming freshman Covenant students who are passionate about athletics and event management. The work schedule varies, including weekend and nighttime hours corresponding to the athletic event calendar. Reporting to the athletic department, this role involves assisting in the direct operations of athletic events, chiefly in game day set up and on-field event management. Given the dynamic environment of collegiate sports, the role requires adaptability, proactive communication, and the ability to work independently without direct supervision.

Responsibilities include directing and leading away teams to their locker rooms, overseeing the set up and operational management during events at home venues, and supporting the event crew in ensuring all aspects of the event run efficiently. In addition to operational duties, the position offers the valuable opportunity to develop career-related skills such as team building, communication, leadership, professionalism, and technology proficiency—including videography and stat work when needed. Candidates will also develop essential soft skills like punctuality, ownership of job responsibilities, and open communication. The work environment typically spans the period during games around prep and break down activities. Home event staff shirts will be provided to foster team spirit and professional pride.

Candidates must be able to manage physical demands associated with the position, including lifting objects weighing 25-50 pounds, maintaining active standing or moving positions during games, and engaging in clear, effective oral communication. The role also supports active participation in campus life, encouraging attendance in chapel services at least once per week as part of the institution's holistic approach to employee development. This position therefore offers a valuable combination of practical athletic event experience coupled with professional skill development in a supportive academic community setting.
