Job Description
Marriott International is a globally recognized leader in the hospitality industry, celebrated for its commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences and fostering a supportive environment for its employees. With a rich legacy that spans over a century, Marriott has established itself as a premier hotel chain operating across various segments including luxury, premium, and select-service properties around the world. The company’s dedication to innovation and hospitality excellence sets a high standard for the industry, making it a sought-after employer for those passionate about guest service and career growth within the hospitality sector.
This position is based in Seattle, Washington at the JW Marriott, a luxury brand within the Marriott International portfolio known for its refined service and commitment to holistic well-being among associates. The JW Marriott properties emphasize camaraderie, personal development, and a unique luxury work environment to help associates thrive both personally and professionally. This opportunity is for a full-time, non-management role that offers competitive hourly pay at $25.09 per hour, plus a robust benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, and other comprehensive plans.
The role focuses on supporting various guest services operations, primarily involving the delivery and maintenance of guest room amenities and communication devices within the hotel. Key responsibilities include testing communication equipment like beepers and radios to ensure functionality, delivering requested items such as rollaway beds, refrigerators, towels, bathrobes, and complimentary toiletries to guest rooms, and handling the delivery of guest messages, mail, faxes, packages, flowers, sundry items, and gift items. Additionally, the role may involve providing food and beverage amenities, assembling to-go orders, and ensuring that guests’ special requests for items like cribs and linens are promptly fulfilled.
A crucial aspect of the job is upholding Marriott's high standards for guest satisfaction and operational excellence. Associates in this role must adhere strictly to company policies, report safety issues or accidents to management, maintain a clean and professional appearance, and protect confidential information and company assets. The position requires strong communication skills to welcome and acknowledge guests warmly, anticipate their service needs, and assist guests with disabilities, all while maintaining a professional demeanor.
Physically, this role demands the ability to stand, sit, or walk through the entire shift, and to lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance. The role may involve navigating confined or elevated spaces, climbing stairs or ramps, and performing physical movements such as bending, twisting, and stooping.
The ideal candidate will have at least a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent, though no prior related work or supervisory experience is required, making this an excellent entry-level opportunity in the hospitality industry. This position aligns with Marriott's inclusive and equal opportunity employment philosophy, welcoming diverse candidates and valuing the unique backgrounds, talents, and experiences every associate brings. Marriott International offers ongoing training, development, and advancement opportunities to help associates build fulfilling careers within its global brand portfolio.
Joining the JW Marriott team means becoming part of a vibrant community dedicated to delivering "Wonderful Hospitality. Always." as the brand proudly upholds a legacy established by Marriott’s founder J. Willard Marriott. Associates are empowered to grow as professionals while enjoying numerous benefits and a collaborative work environment that prioritizes welfare and career progression. This position embodies Marriott’s mission to provide outstanding hospitality to guests worldwide by supporting each other and continuously enhancing the guest experience.
