Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1-3 years work experience in food preparation preferred
  • must be able to read, write, and speak English
  • ability to follow health and sanitation procedures
  • ability to perform physical kitchen tasks
  • ability to maintain cleanliness according to state regulations
  • willingness to work in a school nutrition environment
  • ability to assist and communicate effectively

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1-3 years work experience in food preparation preferred
  • ability to read, write, and speak English
  • knowledge of state health and sanitation regulations
  • effective communication skills
  • ability to work under supervision as part of a team

Job Duties

  • Perform various semi-skilled kitchen tasks to prepare food
  • cleanse and sanitize kitchen equipment, counters, and floors daily
  • prepare serving lines by filling steam table wells and arranging pans in sequence
  • serve students and teachers appropriate food quantities in a friendly manner
  • maintain cleanliness and replenishment of the serving line
  • answer customer inquiries about food content and nutritional value or refer to appropriate personnel
  • receive supply orders, verify quantities against invoices, and store food and supplies while updating inventory records
