The Dining Room Worker and Dish Room Worker positions at Ruth's Marketplace are designed for individuals who thrive in fast-paced environments and enjoy engaging with the campus community. Employees benefit from a starting wage of $13.00 per hour with additional shift differential pay on weekends, alongside a complimentary meal provided for every shift worked. Both roles emphasize teamwork, attention to detail, and adherence to safety and sanitation standards required by the college and government authorities.

In the Dining Room Worker role, employees will be responsible for setting up food stations, stocking food items, and creatively displaying signage and samples to enhance the guest experience. Workers plate food under guidance from full-time staff or student-lead workers and ensure that the serving line and dining room areas remain well stocked throughout meal times. Providing courteous service to guests by answering questions and assisting with dietary needs is a key element of this position. Additionally, duties include maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of work areas, equipment, and utensils, reconciling food supplies at the end of the meal, and participating in mandatory college training sessions. Regular attendance is essential, along with a commitment to personal and workplace safety.

Alternatively, the Dish Room Worker plays a vital role in maintaining the smooth operation of the kitchen by efficiently handling dishwashing tasks in the dishwasher conveyor belt system and working across five distinct stations: the window, spray, push, take-off, and extra person stations. This role involves washing large pots, pans, and utensils using pot and pan agitator sinks, correctly storing all cleaned kitchen items, and stocking dishes and flatware in Ruth’s Marketplace during busy periods. Like the Dining Room Worker, this position requires attendance at college-required training and strict adherence to health, safety, and sanitation protocols.

Both roles require applicants to have some previous experience in retail or institutional food service, though this is preferred and not mandatory. The successful candidates must be able to stand for the entire shift, move actively within the workstation, and maintain focus amid the noise and activity typical of a busy food service environment. Strong verbal communication skills, polite interaction with coworkers and customers, the ability to follow directions, learn new procedures, and exercise good judgment are essential qualities for these roles.
