Job Description
The Main Hospital, a leading healthcare institution dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care, is seeking a dedicated and attentive Nutrition Services team member for its Nutrition Services Department. This hospital is known for its commitment to health excellence and modern facilities, providing comprehensive medical and nutritional support to patients and visitors alike. With a strong emphasis on quality care and patient satisfaction, the hospital’s Nutrition Services Department plays a crucial role in enhancing the overall healthcare experience through nutritious meal provision and exceptional food service standards.
The role offered is pivotal to the effective operation of the Nutrition Services Department, tasked primarily with producing and serving meals in various hospital settings including retail food outlets, patient service areas, sanitation zones, or production environments. This position calls for an individual who can seamlessly blend efficiency in food preparation with top-tier service delivery, ensuring nutritional and sanitary standards are met consistently. The position does not require prior experience or formal education but mandates a food handler certificate accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and/or the Texas Department of State Health Services (TXDSHS), which must be obtained within 60 days of assuming the role.
Beyond mere meal preparation, the individual will engage in several front-line food service activities, including interacting with unit staff to understand and fulfill food service needs, collecting soiled trays and dishes for proper cleaning, and maintaining exemplary standards in food quality and infection prevention. The role embodies a commitment to continual learning and professional growth through mandated in-service educational programs and the proactive study of applicable Nutrition Services materials. This position is essential for upholding the hospital’s reputation for delivering quality, safe, and satisfying meal experiences, thereby contributing to overall patient and customer satisfaction as reflected in feedback and survey outcomes.
The position is ideal for detail-oriented candidates who enjoy working in healthcare food services, possess effective communication skills, and have the willingness to learn and adhere strictly to food safety and sanitation guidelines. The hospital provides a supportive work environment with opportunities for skill development and advancement within the Nutrition Services Department. Candidates will find that this role offers a meaningful way to contribute to patient care and community health through essential nutrition services, playing a valuable role in the hospital’s multidisciplinary healthcare team.
