SpartanNash fosters a culture focused on community and employee satisfaction, proudly referring to its vibrant workforce as the "braggingly happy team members," which ranges across roles from bakery managers to order selectors, IT developers to vice presidents of finance, HR business partners to export specialists. This dynamic team drives forward the success of the company by delivering exceptional service and operational excellence across all facets of the business.
The Associate Engagement Coordinator at SpartanNash plays a crucial role within the store environment in Dowagiac, Michigan. This position is dedicated to managing the full employment lifecycle of store employees, focusing primarily on fostering a "people first" culture through innovative and effective employee engagement initiatives. The Coordinator is responsible for supporting critical processes including hiring, orientation, training, safety, compliance, and communication within the store. By owning the recruitment process from job posting and interviewing to onboarding, the Coordinator ensures a smooth and engaging experience for new hires. Beyond recruitment, the role involves maintaining high employee engagement through recognition programs conducted daily, weekly, and periodically to keep morale and motivation high among store staff.
Additionally, the Associate Engagement Coordinator manages compliance responsibilities at the store level, ensuring all documentation, such as I-9 forms and minor work permits, are current and compliant. This role also involves overseeing the associate experience by maintaining off-stage areas like break rooms, offices, and training spaces to create a welcoming and comfortable work environment. Depending on store volume, the Coordinator may also take on some scheduling responsibilities, serving as the person in charge for a portion of weekly schedules. The position demands proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, exceptional written and verbal communication skills, and strong organizational capabilities to manage multiple tasks efficiently. The Coordinator serves as a vital partner to local HR Business Partners, supporting hiring events and staffing needs as required. This full-time role is a fantastic opportunity for professionals looking to contribute to a company that values its employees and strives to create a supportive and inclusive workplace. SpartanNash is an equal opportunity employer, committed to associate development, fostering two-way communication, and promoting a sense of belonging. While the company does not sponsor work visas for this position, it provides a competitive total rewards benefits package reflecting its People First culture.
