Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Three to five years of progressive related experience in Higher Education, Student Affairs, or related field
  • Ability to work some nights and weekends throughout the year
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to manage large budgets
  • Experience in event planning and risk management
  • Ability to supervise staff and students
  • Skill in contract negotiation and management

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Master's degree preferred in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, or related field
  • Three to five years of progressive related experience in Higher Education, Student Affairs, or related field
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to operate professionally and autonomously
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related programs
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a team structure
  • Responsive and timely decision making
  • Experience with leadership training and event management
  • Knowledge of contract negotiation and risk assessment

Job Duties

  • Advise and manage Hurricane Productions, overseeing planning, implementation, risk assessment, contracting, and program assessment
  • Oversee development and execution of marketing plans for campus events
  • Design, plan, and execute leadership training initiatives for Hurricane Productions student leaders
  • Plan, execute, and evaluate Senior Send Off festivities each spring semester
  • Provide administrative oversight to Category 5 - Athletic Programming Board and Student Fan Zone
  • Design and implement assessment measures to evaluate program effectiveness
  • Negotiate, review, edit, and execute complex contracts for events and programs
  • Serve as a resource for student organization leaders and university administrators on event planning, policies, contract management, and risk assessment
  • Represent the department on various division and university-wide committees
  • Assist with department and division-wide programs such as Canefest, Commencement, Homecoming, and other special events
  • Supervise an Assistant Director, a graduate assistant, and support student employee development
  • Manage and oversee budgets exceeding $1 million ensuring compliance and accountability
  • Engage in sponsor and donor cultivation under senior director advisement
  • Contribute ideas and viewpoints on operational and strategic departmental plans
  • Make daily independent decisions to meet objectives and follow university policies
