The university comprises several distinguished schools including the School of Arts and Sciences, the Jepson School of Leadership Studies, and the Robins School of Business. It is recognized for fostering an inclusive community, promoting innovation in education, and preparing students for leadership roles in a global society. The institution is dedicated to supporting its students not just academically but also through career development services, helping them to transition successfully from their academic endeavors to professional careers.
The Office of Career Services at the University of Richmond plays a pivotal role in this mission by offering career advising and programming tailored to undergraduate and graduate students as well as alumni from these schools. This comprehensive role is designed to provide expert guidance to students interested in pursuing careers in finance and accounting, particularly focusing on areas such as investment banking, sales and trading, research, investment management, wealth management, corporate finance, accounting, and audit. The position serves as the main representative of Career Services to the Robins School of Business, emphasizing the integration of career development with academic curricula and industry trends.
In this role, the successful candidate will coordinate and lead strategic advising initiatives. They will develop career exploration programs, facilitate workshops and panels, and deliver presentations across various formats including individual appointments, group sessions, and larger events. Additionally, the incumbent will collaborate closely with campus constituents such as faculty, staff, alumni, parents, and external employers to cultivate strong relationships and expand employment opportunities. They will also oversee the administration of personality and skills assessments, including MBTI and STRONG Inventory, to better align student strengths with career paths.
The position assumes leadership responsibilities within Career Services, including supervising a team member and guiding them toward professional growth. The incumbent is expected to contribute to the development, assessment, and continuous improvement of career advising programs and initiatives, ensuring they incorporate inclusive practices to serve a diverse student body effectively. Collaboration extends to university committees and cross-departmental partnerships, reinforcing the role’s impact on campus-wide career programming.
This full-time, exempt position requires availability to work some evenings and weekends to accommodate events and offers opportunities for domestic travel. The salary range for this role is between $68,474 and $90,730 annually, reflecting the importance and leadership responsibilities of the position. Ideal candidates will have substantial experience, preferably at least five years in finance, accounting, career services, or college recruiting, and hold a master’s degree preferably in business, higher education administration, or counseling.
The role is a unique opportunity for a professional passionate about career development and student success within a dynamic higher education environment. It provides a platform to influence the career trajectories of students entering competitive finance and accounting fields while fostering strategic relationships that benefit the university’s vibrant community and advancing its career services mission.
