Job Description
Auction.com is the nation’s leading online real estate marketplace, specializing in real estate auctions that empower buyers and sellers across the country. With a prominent presence in the industry, Auction.com operates a platform that simplifies the process of buying and selling real estate through a highly efficient auction system. The company is well-known for its innovative approach to real estate transactions and has established itself as a trusted leader in the online auction space.
The role of Associate Auction Coordinator is vital to Auction.com’s continued success as it involves being the face of the company during live real estate auctions, primarily held on courthouse steps. This position requires a dynamic individual who can effectively conduct, co-host, and participate in live auctions while managing multiple tasks to ensure all processes are successfully executed. The Associate Auction Coordinator plays an important role in not only facilitating the auction but also engaging and educating bidders and customers about the auction process, ultimately helping to turn houses into homes and supporting local community growth.
This is an hourly position with training pay starting at $17.50 per hour. Upon successful completion of the training program and with demonstrated development of skills, proficiency, and responsibilities, the pay increases incrementally to a range between $20.00 and $30.00 per hour. The position is centered around Conroe, Texas, but involves travel up to two hours for auctions in surrounding areas with mileage reimbursement provided for distances over 40 miles per day. In cases where travel exceeds two hours, a rental car may be provided based on projected mileage and scheduling needs.
Flexibility is a must as the schedule varies depending on monthly auction assignments from the area or state manager. Work hours can range from 2 to 8 hours per auction day, with an average of 6 to 12 hours worked monthly, though hours are not guaranteed. Alongside auction days, the role involves attendance at required training sessions, completion of administrative tasks, and participation in team calls and professional development opportunities.
The Associate Auction Coordinator’s responsibilities include maintaining professionalism with customers and official event staff such as deputies and government employees, managing auction equipment and materials, collecting and recording customer information using proprietary software, and completing event-related documentation like receipts and reports. Additionally, coordinators contribute to team communications and training efforts, ensuring quality, efficiency, and attention to detail throughout all tasks.
Ideal candidates are customer service-oriented individuals who excel at interpersonal communication and thrive in dynamic work environments. Being tech-savvy, proficient in Microsoft Office, and possessing strong troubleshooting skills are critical aspects of success in this role. Candidates should be adaptable, quick learners, and capable of multitasking effectively. Comfort with public speaking and crowd interaction is important, as is the ability to learn from coaching and feedback.
Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand outdoors for extended periods in various weather conditions. The role demands reliable personal transportation for travel to auction sites within a two-hour radius. While prior auction experience is welcomed, it is not mandatory, making this an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in entering the real estate auction field.
Benefits of this role include competitive pay, valuable professional experience, a unique work environment without a traditional office setting, regular training and growth opportunities, employee recognition and referral programs, and eligibility for participation in Auction.com’s 401k retirement plan. A travel pay policy is also in place to provide financial support for personal vehicle use during work assignments, enhancing the overall compensation package.
