Job Description

Arete at Desert Sage Retirement located in Bend, Oregon, is a community dedicated to providing exceptional living experiences for seniors. The role of Housekeeper at Arete at Desert Sage Retirement is a full-time position with a tentative schedule of Wednesday through Sunday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 or 5 PM, including weekend availability. The housekeeper plays a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of the residential and communal areas, thereby supporting the health and comfort of the residents. Responsibilities include ordering and monitoring cleaning supplies, cleaning bathrooms thoroughly, restocking toiletries, dusting and cleaning surfaces like glass and mirrors, vacuuming and mopping floors, and performing deep cleaning of resident apartments and care areas. The role also extends to handling residents' laundry by sorting, washing, drying, folding, hanging, and putting it away according to established guidelines.

In addition to housekeeping chores, the housekeeper is responsible for keeping equipment clean, maintaining tidy linen areas, assisting with bed making, and aiding other housekeeping duties as needed. This position requires strict adherence to infection control protocols and confidentiality standards in line with HIPAA guidelines, ensuring residents’ privacy is protected. The housekeeper is a vital part of the care team, contributing to a safe, clean, and welcoming environment that enhances the quality of life for all residents.

  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language
  • Must have experience interacting with residents of this nature

Job Duties

  • Responsible for ordering and monitoring all supplies
  • Clean sinks, showers, toilets and other fixtures
  • Stock soap and paper products in bathrooms
  • Clean and dust surfaces including glass and mirrors
  • Vacuum carpet and sweep and mop floors
  • Deep clean resident's apartments and care areas
  • Sort, wash, and dry resident laundry per building policy
  • Fold, hang and put away resident laundry per guidelines
  • Clean all equipment and keep soiled and clean linen areas tidy
  • Help strip and make resident beds
  • Aid with housekeeping duties when needed
  • Maintain infection control procedures
  • Maintain confidentiality of all resident care information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines
