This role is for an Assistant Store Leader (Assistant Manager) at the Stripes brand location in Laredo, Texas. This position is full-time and offers competitive pay along with valuable management and leadership experience. As an Assistant Store Leader, you will be a vital part of the retail management team, supporting the Store Leader by overseeing customer service operations and assisting with staff training and coaching. The focus of this role is on maintaining high standards of operation including merchandising, marketing programs, cash handling, fuel transactions, and loyalty program promotions. You will play a critical role in driving employee productivity and retention by helping identify qualified applicants, developing leadership within your team, and fostering a positive work environment.

You will also be responsible for ensuring the store maintains a clean, safe, and well-stocked environment, adhering to all health and sanitation procedures. This leadership role requires excellent communication skills, both oral and written, along with computer proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Office products such as Word and Excel. Candidates are expected to have either a high school diploma or GED preferred, but those with at least one year of retail management experience without formal education will also be considered. A valid driver's license and automotive insurance are necessary, reflecting the operational responsibilities tied to this position.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Minimum one year of retail management experience
  • Valid driver’s license from state of residence
  • Automotive liability insurance maintained during employment
  • Ability to multitask and perform physical tasks like bending, standing, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient computer knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

Job Duties

  • Oversee and provide customer service leadership, training, and coaching alongside the Store Leader for all store employees
  • Maintain high retention by focusing on identifying qualified applicants, developing leaders, empowering employees, and encouraging employee productivity
  • Assist in implementing all merchandising and marketing programs
  • Manage cash handling, fuel transactions, and promote the loyalty program
  • Maintain a clean, safe environment by complying with all health and sanitation procedures and ensuring the store is presentable and stocked
  • Communicate effectively in oral and written forms
  • Utilize computer skills to perform duties using software such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
