As an independent affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, the organization maintains strong ties to its global mission while focusing on local impact throughout the Boston area. With a commitment to diversity and inclusion, Habitat for Humanity Greater Boston prides itself on being an equal opportunity employer. They embrace a culture where individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences feel welcomed and supported, building a workplace that reflects the community it serves.
The Assistant Site Supervisor role at Habitat for Humanity Greater Boston is a vital position combining hands-on construction skills and volunteer leadership. This full-time, in-person role offers a competitive hourly pay range of $24 to $30 depending on skills and experience, with a work schedule from Tuesday to Saturday, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., including occasional overtime. The job presents a unique opportunity to develop residential construction expertise while contributing to meaningful community work and expanding leadership capabilities.
As an Assistant Site Supervisor, you will oversee and guide volunteer groups on active construction sites, ensuring safety, efficiency, and positive experiences for all participants. Core responsibilities include assisting with construction tasks such as demolition, site preparation, framing, insulation, drywall, flooring, roofing, finish carpentry, and landscaping in both new and rehabilitation home projects. Additionally, you will create a welcoming environment that promotes volunteer engagement, safety education, and communication with partner homeowners and team members.
The position demands a blend of technical skills, leadership, and interpersonal abilities. You will monitor site safety, model best practices, organize materials, coordinate with construction staff, and maintain orderly project sites. Your role also includes identifying and fostering skilled volunteers to deepen their involvement in Habitat’s mission. Active participation in team meetings and safety trainings is expected, reinforcing the collaborative culture Habitat promotes.
Overall, joining Habitat for Humanity Greater Boston as an Assistant Site Supervisor means being part of a passionate team dedicated to transforming lives through affordable homeownership and community building.
