The Assistant Manager role is a dynamic, hands-on leadership position within the Valvoline Instant Oil Change service center. This position requires a balance of technical knowledge related to automotive care and strong management skills to lead, develop, and motivate a team. The Assistant Manager plays a critical role in maintaining high standards of customer service by ensuring each guest receives a warm, friendly greeting and a reliable, efficient service experience. They support the Service Center Manager by helping oversee daily operations, including inventory control, labor management, and financial performance.
Additionally, this role involves ensuring compliance with Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) regulations and company policies, fostering a safe working environment for all employees. The Assistant Manager is also responsible for mentoring team members, facilitating their professional growth through training initiatives, and promoting a clean and organized work area. Success in this role is marked by the ability to build lasting customer relationships that encourage repeat business, while supporting a motivated and cohesive team. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Six months of supervisory experience or related experience/training preferred
- Effective interpersonal and oral communication skills
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages
- Knowledge of cash handling, facility and safety control policies and practices
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time and climb stairs
- Full mobility and able to twist, stoop and bend
- Friendly and willing to work as part of customer-focused team

Job Duties
- Deliver a positive first impression to each guest with a warm and friendly greeting
- Build trust and win repeat, loyal customers
- Assist the Service Center Manager (SCM) in the daily operation and oversight of the service center
- Responsible for inventory, labor management and financial performance of the service center
- Become familiar with Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) compliance and other policies and procedures
- Mentor, lead and train the team to optimize their development
- Help maintain a clean, well-organized service center and facilitate a safe and secure working environment
- Provide superior customer service leadership
