Job Description

Mount Baker Rowing and Sailing Center is a renowned community-centered facility located in Seattle, Washington. It operates as a joint partnership between Seattle Parks and Recreation, the Associated Recreation Council, and the Boating Advisory Council. Job Requirements

  • At least one year of experience teaching dinghy racing sailing
  • CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain within one month
  • must pass a 10-minute float test
  • Washington Boaters Education certification prior to employment
  • ability to work Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM
  • part-time availability through end of October
  • passion for youth coaching and sailing

Job Qualifications

  • Passion for sailing and teaching
  • excellent communication and organizational skills
  • at least one year of experience teaching dinghy racing sailing
  • youth coaching experience preferred
  • US Sailing Level 1 certification preferred
  • skills in maintenance and repair of sailing equipment a plus
  • CPR and First Aid training required within one month of hire
  • Washington Boaters Education certification required
  • ability to pass a 10-minute float test

Job Duties

  • Assist head instructor with Learn to Race Sailing Team sessions
  • conduct sailing training in Optis, Lasers, and FJs
  • support youth sailors aged 8 to high school seniors
  • ensure safety protocols are followed during practices
  • assist with boat and facility maintenance as needed
  • communicate effectively with students and parents
  • organize training schedules and materials
