Job Description
Folks Pizzeria is a full-service restaurant located in California, known for its elevated casual dining approach that combines ingredient integrity with warm, welcoming hospitality. Established in Costa Mesa in 2019, Folks Pizzeria has quickly built a reputation as a neighborhood joint where the artisanal menu revolves around sharing and celebrating local California ingredients on a unique pizza crust. Alongside the signature pizzas, the restaurant features a revolving natural wine list that emphasizes small California producers, creating a distinct dining experience that appeals to food lovers and wine enthusiasts alike. The company is currently expanding by opening a new location in Culver City, aiming to bring the same high-quality dining experience to a broader audience. Being part of a forward-thinking team, Folks Pizzeria values operating at high standards in both front-of-house and back-of-house roles, encouraging new challenges and personal fulfillment among its staff.
The role available is for an Assistant Restaurant Manager / Bar Manager at the new Culver City location. This position is pivotal in both the pre-opening phase and in the ongoing management of the bar and beverage program once the location is fully operational. The candidate will be deeply involved in shaping the bar’s operational setup, from initial display and equipment organization to inventory and vendor relationships. The Assistant Manager will also lead and support the hiring, onboarding, and training of bar staff to ensure the team delivers excellent service in alignment with the restaurant’s standards. Additionally, this role requires working closely with the beverage program, including developing beverage menus, service standards, and procedures that emphasize quality and consistency.
Beyond the opening preparations, the Assistant Restaurant Manager / Beverage Manager will oversee daily bar and beverage operations, ensuring smooth service that meets expectations in terms of beverage quality, presentation, and guest satisfaction. This includes managing inventory and ordering processes, monitoring cost control, coaching and developing the service team, and maintaining compliance with health, safety, and alcohol regulations. The position requires strong leadership skills, hospitality passion, and a strategic mindset to drive both the operational success and revenue growth of the beverage program. The ideal candidate is hands-on, adaptable, and highly communicative, with an ability to respond quickly to customer feedback and operational challenges.
The role offers a competitive salary ranging between $65,000 and $75,000, along with a performance-based bonus system, paid time off, and training opportunities. Working at Folks Pizzeria also means joining an expanding concept with numerous growth opportunities within the company. Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays is required to meet the demands of the restaurant’s service hours. The position promises a unique and rewarding experience for a beverage operations professional eager to contribute to and grow with a vibrant and innovative dining concept.
