The Full-Service Assistant Manager role at Jakes is integral to ensuring that each restaurant location operates smoothly and profitably while consistently delivering on the brand promise known as Our Cause. This promise focuses on providing every guest with an exceptional experience that includes timely service, high-quality hot food, refreshing ice-cold beverages, and a friendly, professional team interaction. The Assistant Manager is responsible for directing and motivating hourly staff, managing costs, initiating local marketing and recruiting efforts, and ensuring adherence to company policies. The position requires a skilled leader capable of coaching and disciplining employees, maintaining service standards, and enforcing sanitation and safety regulations. The role also involves managing financial transactions, including cash handling, credit card processing, and petty cash accountability, with an emphasis on accuracy and security.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of full service restaurant management experience
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to work full-time in person
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to handle cash and credit transactions accurately
  • Ability to recruit, train, and manage staff
  • Commitment to maintaining company policies and standards
  • TABC certification or willingness to obtain

Job Duties

  • Teach, motivate, coach, and discipline all staff including key managers, kitchen crew, and front of house team
  • Proactively recruit team members to meet or exceed Jakes image and standards
  • Ensure the 8 Steps of Service are followed and motivate front of house staff to engage with guests
  • Hold kitchen staff accountable for food quality and sanitation standards
  • Handle cash responsibly including assigning drawers, computing checkouts and tip shares, and delivering bank deposits
  • Conduct interviews, hiring, warnings, counseling, terminations, and document all such events
  • Address issues of discrimination or harassment according to company policies
  • Maintain a fun, respectful, and professional work atmosphere
  • Drive sales through excellent operations and local store marketing
  • Train and develop hourly employees with regular coaching and evaluations
  • Maintain organized training schedules and materials
  • Execute food, drink, event, contest, and merchandise promotions
  • Practice sound inventory control and adhere to recipes and expiration dates
  • Dress and act professionally and maintain standards of cleanliness and health compliance
  • Ensure responsible alcohol service and maintain TABC certification for all servers, bartenders, and managers
  • Dedicate to making Jakes the best restaurant of its class in the country
