Job Description
This job posting is for a restaurant managed by an independent franchisee, not Jack in the Box Inc. The franchisee is the direct employer, responsible for all employment-related decisions including hiring, firing, wages, and scheduling. This setup ensures a locally managed team culture focused on delivering excellent service and operational standards in line with the Jack in the Box brand. The restaurant environment promotes a friendly, fun, clean, and safe workplace that values teamwork, respect, and high performance. As an independent franchisee, the restaurant prioritizes compliance with all policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements while striving to deliver exceptional guest experiences.
The position summary describes a managerial role responsible for overseeing day-to-day restaurant operations, either alongside or in the absence of the Restaurant Manager. The role demands using discretion and accountability to effectively execute the Service Profit Chain (SPC) and uphold the Brand Promise. The primary goal is to ensure excellent internal service by recruiting, training, and developing staff, providing outstanding external service to guests with consistent food quality and cleanliness, and driving higher profits through effective management and operational decision-making. The manager actively works to create a motivating and respectful workplace, ensuring a positive brand image and responding professionally to guest concerns. Using performance data, they identify trends and implement action plans to increase sales and profitability, all the while monitoring costs and adhering to budgets.
Key competencies for this leadership role include fostering the company culture with integrity and ethical behavior, coaching and developing employees, focusing on guest satisfaction, maintaining food quality and safety, and managing business processes with agility and strong organizational skills. The ideal candidate will demonstrate calm composure under pressure, managerial courage, a strong commitment to ethics and values, and the ability to build effective teams. They should embrace continuous learning, problem-solving, and effective communication, inspiring others to deliver their best.
Candidates need a minimum high school diploma or equivalent, with higher education preferred. Relevant experience depends on the applicant's background, with internal candidates requiring at least one year in leadership roles within customer service environments and external candidates needing at least three years of assistant management experience, including some profit and loss responsibility. Certifications such as ServSafe and completion of assistant manager training are required. The role also demands physical stamina for standing and walking most of the shift, lifting responsibilities, and operational tasks involving restaurant equipment and computers.
Jack in the Box and its affiliates provide reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions. Additionally, candidates must agree to arbitration for most employment disputes as per company policy. This position is ideal for motivated individuals seeking a challenging but rewarding role in food service management, offering opportunities for career growth in a dynamic franchise environment that values integrity, teamwork, and customer satisfaction.
