Job Description
This job posting is for a restaurant operated by an independent franchisee and not directly by Jack in the Box Inc. The franchisee is responsible for all employment-related matters, including hiring, firing, wages, staffing, and scheduling, so the successful candidate will be employed by the franchisee itself. Jack in the Box is a well-known fast-food chain that serves a variety of menu items, and this role plays a crucial part in managing the daily operations of one of its independently owned restaurants.
The position available is for an Assistant Manager role, which involves supporting or managing the restaurant operations either alongside the Restaurant Manager or independently in their absence. This role requires discretion and accountability in daily management decisions with a focus on ensuring the effective execution of the Service Profit Chain (SPC) and the Jack in the Box Brand Promise. The Assistant Manager will be pivotal in delivering both excellent internal service by managing team members effectively and external service by guaranteeing guests have an exceptional experience.
The Assistant Manager's primary responsibilities include recruiting, training, developing, and evaluating restaurant staff; ensuring excellent guest service and food quality; maintaining a clean and safe restaurant environment; managing operational and financial performance; and driving higher profits. This management role demands a hands-on leader who motivates and inspires employees, ensures all staffing and training systems are adhered to, and actively looks for ways to improve the guest experience continuously.
A strong focus is placed on fostering the Jack in the Box culture, promoting integrity, ethical behavior, and high-performance standards. The Assistant Manager is also expected to handle complaints professionally and promptly, maintain a positive brand image, and execute business plans efficiently to increase sales and profitability. They should be comfortable analyzing various reports such as financial performance, health inspections, and service quality to implement appropriate action plans.
The role requires ongoing communication, coaching, and development of the team, identifying internal candidates for future management roles, and supporting a friendly, fun, clean, and safe environment. Additionally, this role demands flexibility, the ability to adapt to shifting priorities, sound decision-making skills, and a commitment to maintaining the highest food safety and hygiene standards.
Working in a fast-paced restaurant environment, the Assistant Manager will address operational challenges with composure, motivate the team effectively, and leverage management information tools to drive business results. This position is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about customer service, team building, and business management in the restaurant industry, particularly within a growing and dynamic franchise business.
Employment type is typically full-time, and while specific salary details are set by the independent franchisee, compensation usually reflects industry standards for management roles within fast food franchises. The role may also involve the use of a personal vehicle for business tasks such as bank deposits and traveling between locations. Overall, this is a challenging yet rewarding career path for those who want to grow in restaurant management and make a significant impact in the guest experience and operational excellence.
