Job Description
This job opportunity is provided by an independently owned and operated McDonald's franchise, distinct from McDonald's USA. The franchisee operates the restaurant under license to use McDonald's logos and food products but is a separate employer responsible for all employment-related decisions such as hiring, firing, discipline, supervision, staffing, and scheduling. McDonald's USA neither controls nor participates in these employment matters, ensuring that all employment relations are managed directly by the franchisee. This offers a unique environment where employees experience the renowned McDonald's brand while working under a localized team with direct involvement in their career growth and workplace environment.
This position is for an Assistant Restaurant Leader (ARL), a pivotal role within the restaurant's leadership team. The ARL supports the Restaurant Leader in overseeing all aspects of operations and takes the helm in their absence. This role requires a proactive leader who can drive daily operations and administration, provide coaching and guidance to department and shift leaders, and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to develop and implement action plans that ensure the business’s success. The ARL is expected to embody servant leadership — leading by example and fostering a collaborative, positive, and productive workplace. This role is ideal for motivated individuals who desire a career in restaurant management and hospitality leadership with opportunities for advancement within the franchise organization.
The ARL position demands a combination of strong operational skills, leadership capabilities, and a passion for customer service. Candidates will be responsible for managing labor controls, analyzing and acting on Profit and Loss statements, and delegating tasks effectively to maintain smooth operations. They must cultivate a fun, engaging, compliant work environment focused on the development and well-being of team members. Effective communication and goal tracking are key elements, alongside active management practices such as managing by walking around (MBWA), ensuring adherence to McDonald's systems, standards, and routines established by the franchise.
Moreover, the ARL is tasked with overseeing performance management processes, leading employee training initiatives, nurturing a culture of hospitality to elevate the guest experience, and driving talent acquisition efforts to attract and retain quality team members. This leadership role requires flexibility in scheduling and availability on call as business needs dictate, reflecting the dynamic nature of the restaurant industry.
Ideal candidates will have 3 to 5 years of experience in an Assistant Manager or equivalent role within hospitality, retail, or restaurant environments of similar or higher volume. The ability to analyze financial documents and lead with a positive, can-do attitude committed to the overall success of the business is vital. Preferred qualifications include over 5 years of assistant general management experience and a strong desire to progress further in restaurant leadership. This role offers a fulfilling career path supported by education advancement opportunities, valuable job training, and comprehensive retirement benefits.
