The role of Assistant Pastry Chef at Park Hyatt Aviara is an important leadership position within the hotel's culinary team. This role requires in-depth skills and knowledge of all pastry and baking operations to ensure the production of high-quality, consistent products that exceed guest expectations. The Assistant Pastry Chef will be responsible for monitoring food production, food quality, and consistency on a daily basis while also managing staffing levels and facilitating department training. This position demands a high level of culinary education and expertise, including cost control, communication skills, computer literacy, and organizational abilities. The role also requires experience in guest contact, as well as teaching and mentoring skills in pastry and baking. The Assistant Pastry Chef must be capable of stepping up to lead the pastry department in the absence of the Pastry Chef, demonstrating strong leadership and decision-making abilities.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proven experience in pastry baking
- Culinary degree or equivalent preferred
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure
- Physical stamina for long standing shifts
- Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
- Excellent guest service mindset
