The Assistant Pastry Chef role at Cherokee Town and Country Club is a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic, high-volume pastry kitchen that values creativity, precision, and collaboration. The position is full-time with shifts from Tuesday to Sunday, offering an hourly rate between $20.00 and $25.00, commensurate with experience. This role is ideal for a passionate pastry professional eager to hone their craft in a fast-paced yet supportive environment. The Assistant Pastry Chef supports the production of baked goods, pastries, wedding cakes, centerpieces, and other sweet specialties, contributing to the culinary team's success and the club’s exceptional gastronomic reputation.
In this capacity, the Assistant Pastry Chef actively participates in all areas of pastry production including breads, banquet desserts, pastry carts, and general pastry shop operations. The role demands proficiency in both classic and modern decoration techniques, mastery of recipe management including maintaining detailed files and template archives, and the ability to assist in training new kitchen staff. Coordinating dessert and bread requirements with banquet operations is an essential part of the role, ensuring seamless execution of events and maintaining the highest level of quality and presentation. This position is not only about executing recipes but also about creatively contributing to daily pastry specials and seasonal menu offerings under the guidance of the Executive Pastry Chef.

Job Requirements
- two to five years experience preferred
- graduate of culinary school or apprenticeship program
- able to certify as pastry culinarian and working pastry chef within two years
- basic skills in cake decorating and chocolate
- prior restaurant experience preferred
- excellent communication skills
- ability to work well in a team environment
- motivated to exceed member expectations
- ability to work with a sense of urgency and anticipate needs

Job Qualifications
- graduate of culinary school or apprenticeship program

Job Duties
- supporting production across all pastry stations including breads, banquet desserts, pastry carts, and more
- ensuring consistency in quality, presentation, and taste
- contributing to the development and execution of daily pastry specials and seasonal menu offerings
- assisting with training new pastry team members and stewards in recipes and kitchen procedures
- coordinating with banquet operations to fulfill daily dessert and bread requirements including setup according to banquet event orders
- maintaining a detailed recipe file for all items produced in the pastry shop along with decorating templates or stencils
- performing additional duties as assigned by the Executive Pastry Chef or Executive Chef
