The Food Preparation role is an integral part of the culinary operations at Moana Surfrider. This position is part-time and falls under the Food and Beverage and Culinary job category, offering competitive hourly pay ranging from $28.15 to $35.19. The role focuses on preparing ingredients and food items to high standards, ensuring quality and safety throughout the process. Responsibilities include portioning, chopping, washing, and storing food, as well as preparing cold dishes and cooking food according to recipes and quality standards. Operators will use various kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers, testing food to make sure it meets required cooking levels and monitoring food quality continuously.

This non-management position requires someone who can maintain a clean and sanitary work environment, handle food safely, and adhere strictly to company policies and health standards. Attention to detail is essential, as is the ability to work effectively as part of a team to achieve common goals. The role includes setting up and breaking down workstations, serving food in proper portions, and maintaining kitchen cleanliness, including washing and disinfecting kitchen tools and equipment.

They should be physically capable of extended periods of standing or walking, and able to perform physical tasks such as lifting objects up to 25 pounds.   • Minimum 1 year of related work experience
  • No supervisory experience required
  • Ability to stand walk or sit for extended periods
  • Capable of lifting 25 pounds without assistance

Job Duties

  • Prepare ingredients for cooking including portioning chopping and storing food
  • Wash and peel fresh fruits and vegetables
  • Weigh measure and mix ingredients
  • Prepare and cook food according to recipes quality standards presentation standards and food preparation checklist
  • Operate ovens stoves grills microwaves and fryers
  • Test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently
  • Wash and disinfect kitchen area tables tools knives and equipment
