Job Description

Flynn Group entered the Panera system in 2015 with the acquisition of 47 cafes and has since grown significantly to become the second largest Panera franchisee in the world. This impressive expansion was achieved through both opening new stores and acquiring other franchise operators. Flynn Panera operates as a franchisee of Panera Bread, one of the premier brands within the Flynn Group portfolio. Established in 1999 by Greg Flynn, the Flynn Group has grown to become the largest franchise operator globally, managing a diversified collection of world-class and iconic restaurant brands including Applebee's, Arby's, Panera Bread, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, Wendy's, and Planet Fitness. This extensive portfolio highlights Flynn Group's commitment to excellence and leadership in the food service industry.

Flynn Panera is structured with a decentralized business model where each geographic region is led by a Market Leader. Under the Market Leader, Area Directors manage multiple units and oversee overall café functions in their territories. Further down the structure, General Managers are responsible for the operation and management of individual cafés. They are supported by Assistant Managers who oversee specific departments and handle everyday management responsibilities, along with Team Managers who round out the café leadership. With a seasoned leadership team boasting more than 190 years of restaurant experience and over 60 years with Flynn Group, Flynn Panera prides itself on high standards of leadership and operational excellence.

The Panera Bread cafes managed by Flynn Panera are known for their upscale, welcoming environment and their focus on freshly baked breads, pastries, and made-to-order soups, salads, sandwiches, and specialty espresso beverages. The cafes maintain an alcohol and fryer-free environment, leading to a clean, grease-free atmosphere perfect for associates and guests alike. Flynn Panera values team members who are morning people, as late-night shifts are not part of the schedule.

The role of the Manager at Panera Bread is multifaceted and essential to the continued success and growth of the cafes. Managers are responsible for leading and inspiring a team of up to 75 employees to provide exceptional customer service and maintain high standards in food quality, cleanliness, safety, and facility management. The Manager plays a critical role in creating a profitable environment by overseeing labor management, ordering supplies, marketing efforts, and bakery operations.

This position requires a passionate leader who excels at coaching, counseling, and motivating team members. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, with a stable employment history in the restaurant industry and excellent interpersonal skills. Managers at Flynn Panera serve as the bridge between associates and higher management, acting as the primary resource for resolving employee questions and concerns, developing team members, and ensuring the café delivers a product and service that exceed guest expectations.

Essential duties include managing the restaurant's overall performance, planning and analyzing sales and profitability, scheduling shifts, maintaining budget controls, and coordinating the day-to-day operations during business hours. Managers engage with customers through greeting and table visits to ensure satisfaction, and promote a fun and authentic work environment. They are responsible for recruiting, training, and retaining staff to meet operational needs and uphold company standards, values, and business ethics.

Flynn Panera offers competitive wages along with a suite of benefits such as profit sharing that varies by market, meal discounts, medical, dental, and vision insurance available shortly after employment begins, a 401(k) plan with company match, paid vacation, and opportunities for career development. Physical demands of the role include the ability to stand and move for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds safely, and use fine motor skills required for equipment handling. Flynn Panera is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity, inclusion, and providing accommodations to qualified individuals, making this a dynamic and rewarding opportunity for experienced restaurant professionals seeking growth within a leading franchise operator.
