Job Description
Panda Express is a leading American Chinese restaurant chain renowned for its commitment to delivering exceptional Asian dining experiences. Established in 1983 in Glendale, California, Panda Express has grown to become the largest family-owned American Chinese restaurant concept in the United States with nearly 2,300 locations globally. The company is deeply rooted in family values and is dedicated to fostering an inclusive, supportive environment for both its customers and employees. Panda Express takes pride in its mission to inspire and improve the lives of its associates through continuous professional and personal development. It emphasizes a strong community culture that encourages collaboration, growth, and employee success.
The role of Assistant Manager at Panda Express is a pivotal leadership position within the store management team. This role involves assisting in the overall operation of a single Panda Express store while ensuring high standards in customer service and store presentation. The Assistant Manager is responsible for the hiring, management, and direction of associates to meet and exceed financial goals and deliver outstanding guest experiences. The position offers a hands-on leadership experience supported by an extensive store leadership training program lasting three or more weeks, which prepares new managers with comprehensive skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the fast-paced restaurant environment.
Working at Panda Express means becoming part of a passionate and dynamic team committed to excellence. Assistant Managers benefit from a well-rounded compensation package that includes paid meals, bonuses, and a variety of insurance options such as medical, vision, and dental coverage. The company also offers valuable benefits like 401(k) with company match, paid time off, holidays, and bereavement leave, as well as unique perks like discounts at theme parks and gym memberships. Additionally, Panda Express invests in the ongoing career and leadership development of its employees, providing continuous education assistance, scholarships, and opportunities for upward mobility within the company.
The work environment is fast-paced and requires physical stamina, as employees must be able to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in hot, noisy kitchens. The role demands strong communication skills, adaptability to changing priorities, and the ability to manage conflicts effectively. Panda Express is committed to equal opportunity employment and provides reasonable accommodations to ensure an inclusive hiring process. Embracing diversity and inclusion, Panda Express seeks motivated individuals who are not only passionate about leadership but also dedicated to making a positive impact on their team and community through quality food service and exceptional guest experiences.
