Job Description

Panda Express, founded in 1983 in Glendale, California, stands as the largest family-owned American Chinese restaurant concept across the United States with nearly 2,800 locations worldwide. Committed to delivering exceptional Asian dining experiences, Panda Express emphasizes a company culture deeply rooted in family values and the professional and personal development of its associates. This company has grown from a single restaurant into a leading brand known for its innovative approach to Asian cuisine, dedication to quality, and a strong sense of community engagement. Panda Express is passionate about building an inclusive work environment where employees are inspired to improve their lives and contribute meaningfully to the communities they serve. The company offers an environment that fosters continuous learning and growth, pride in cultural heritage, and a forward-thinking business philosophy.

Joining Panda Express as an Assistant Manager means becoming an integral part of this vibrant organization. The Assistant Manager role is pivotal in leading store operations to ensure financial goals are met while delivering a superior guest experience. This is a full-time position offering extensive support through paid Store Management Leadership Training, mentorship, and access to the Panda community, which nurtures success and development. Successful candidates will assist with hiring, directing, and managing associates, while maintaining operational excellence in the store. Training lasts approximately three or more weeks and prepares the candidate for success by equipping them with the skills, knowledge, and leadership capabilities needed to run a store efficiently.

The position rewards commitment with a generous compensation package that includes bonus opportunities. Additionally, numerous benefits come with the role such as medical, vision, dental insurance, voluntary short-term disability, cancer income protection, 401K with company match, paid time off, paid holidays, bereavement leave, and participation in a leave share program. Employees also enjoy perks like free meals during shifts, discounts on gyms and theme parks, opportunities for community service, hands-on training, ongoing career and leadership development, scholarships for further education, and associate referral bonuses. Panda Express actively supports its staff with income protection plans including disability, life, and accidental death and dismemberment insurance.

As an Assistant Manager, the candidate must be prepared to work in a fast-paced, sometimes physically demanding environment where kitchen conditions include heat, steam, high noise levels, and limited space. They must be able to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and use kitchen equipment safely and efficiently. The role requires flexibility, as it may involve working in stores within a 50-mile radius and handling a variable schedule that includes weekends. Food safety certification such as Serve Safe is required to ensure proper food handling and sanitation standards. Panda Express values diversity and is an equal opportunity employer committed to providing reasonable accommodations for applicants with disabilities. The company fosters a workplace that does not tolerate discrimination based on any legally protected characteristics, promoting fairness and inclusion for all employees.
