Job Description

Panda Express is a renowned leader in the fast-casual dining industry specializing in American Chinese cuisine. Founded in 1983 in Glendale, California, the company has grown to become the largest family-owned American Chinese restaurant concept in the United States with nearly 2,800 locations globally. Panda Express prides itself on delivering exceptional Asian dining experiences while fostering an inspiring and supportive work environment that encourages professional growth and personal development among its associates. With a rich heritage built on family values and a deep commitment to community impact, Panda Express continues to be a dynamic and inclusive organization where employees can thrive and grow their careers.

As an Assistant Manager at Panda Express, you will play a critical role in overseeing the daily operations of a single restaurant location. This hands-on leadership position involves managing store associates, hiring new team members, and directing activities to meet financial goals and ensure outstanding guest experiences. The role demands strong leadership skills and the ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of food safety and operational excellence. To prepare you for success, Panda Express provides a comprehensive paid Store Management Leadership Training program lasting three or more weeks, mentorship opportunities, and continuous support from the company's community. The position requires a flexible schedule, including the ability to work weekends and the potential to operate in stores within a 50-mile radius of your location.

Panda Express values its employees and offers a generous compensation package which includes bonus opportunities, free meals during shifts, comprehensive medical benefits including vision and dental coverage, voluntary short-term disability, cancer income protection insurance, a 401K plan with company match, and pre-tax dependent care flexible spending accounts. Additional perks include paid time off, paid holidays, bereavement and funeral leave, exclusive discounts at theme parks and gyms, and opportunities for community involvement. Career advancement is a priority, with ongoing career and leadership development programs, scholarships for continuing education, a lucrative associate referral bonus, and income protection benefits. These comprehensive benefits emphasize the company’s commitment to employee well-being and professional growth.

The role requires employees to work in an often fast-paced, high-noise environment where kitchen and counter areas can be hot, and physical demands include standing for up to four hours, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working with kitchen equipment such as Chinese cook knives. Effective communication skills, conflict management, adaptability, and the ability to maintain accuracy under pressure are essential attributes for success in the Assistant Manager role. Panda Express is also a committed Equal Opportunity Employer, actively promoting workplace diversity and inclusion and providing accommodations for individuals with disabilities under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
