Job Description

Panda Express is a renowned leader in the fast-casual dining industry, specializing in American Chinese cuisine. Founded in Glendale, California, in 1983, Panda Express has grown to become the largest family-owned American Chinese restaurant concept in the United States, boasting close to 2,300 locations worldwide. The company is deeply committed to delivering exceptional Asian dining experiences while fostering an inclusive and supportive organizational culture rooted in family values. Panda Express prides itself on being an organization where people are inspired to better their lives both professionally and personally, making it a top choice for individuals seeking meaningful career opportunities in the hospitality and food service sectors.

At Panda Express, the focus is not only on providing delicious meals but also on cultivating a work environment where associates can thrive. The company offers extensive training programs, mentorship, and ongoing leadership development designed to empower team members to excel in their roles. The brand's dedication to professional growth is evident in the paid Store Management Leadership Training offered to new managers, along with continuous education assistance and scholarships. Furthermore, Panda Express is an Equal Opportunity Employer, committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, ensuring that all individuals have a fair chance to succeed regardless of their background or characteristics protected by law.

The role of Assistant Manager at Panda Express plays a critical part in maintaining the brand's high standards for operational excellence and guest satisfaction. This position involves assisting in managing the operations of a single store, ensuring that both financial goals and exceptional guest experiences are consistently achieved. Assistant Managers take charge of hiring, training, directing, and managing store associates, fostering a productive and positive team environment. The position demands strong leadership skills, the ability to adapt in a fast-paced setting, and a commitment to upholding food safety standards, including Serve Safe certification.

New Assistant Managers are supported through a comprehensive 3-week or longer store leadership training program, which equips them with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in their roles. The role requires flexibility in scheduling, including working weekends and being able to work at locations within a 50-mile radius. Additionally, the physical demands of the position require employees to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and work efficiently in a high-energy, sometimes noisy kitchen environment.

Panda Express rewards its team members generously with a competitive compensation package, inclusive of bonus opportunities. Benefits for full-time associates include medical, vision, dental, voluntary short-term disability, and cancer income protection insurance. The company also provides a 401K plan with company match, paid time off, paid holidays, bereavement leave, and participation in the Leave Share Program. Additional perks include free meals during shifts, discounts on theme parks and gym memberships, community involvement opportunities, and associate referral bonuses.

Joining Panda Express as an Assistant Manager offers a unique opportunity to be part of a larger family dedicated to excellence and continuous growth. The role not only demands operational and leadership capabilities but also provides a platform for career advancement and personal development in a well-supported and dynamic environment. Working with Panda Express means becoming a vital contributor to a legacy of success, quality, and community impact.
