Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED or 2-year degree from an accredited university in hotel and restaurant management, hospitality, business administration, or related major
  • 2 years experience in food and beverage, culinary, guest services, front desk, housekeeping, or related professional area
  • If no standard educational background, at least 3 years of experience in two areas of hospitality including food and beverage, culinary, guest services, front desk, housekeeping, or related professional area
  • Experience running a shift, scheduling, performance management, problem solving, day-to-day operation, hospitality skills
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations
  • Ability to lead and influence teams
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to handle guest complaints and problems effectively
  • Understanding of financial and budgetary management
  • Familiarity with liquor control policies and cash handling
  • Ability to coordinate and manage multiple departments
  • Experience in training and mentoring staff
  • Scheduling expertise to ensure coverage and productivity

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience in food and beverage, front desk, guest services, housekeeping or similar hospitality area
  • Proven leadership abilities in shift management and staff scheduling

Job Duties

  • Lead daily front desk, housekeeping, or guest services shift operations
  • Assist in supervising an effective inspection program for guestrooms and public space
  • Attend staff, forecast, pre-con meetings and department meetings
  • Encourage mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members
  • Ensure knowledge and understanding of OSHA regulations are up to date
  • Perform all duties at the front desk as necessary
  • Supervise daily shift operations and ensure compliance with all housekeeping policies, standards and procedures
  • Support front office areas in absence of managers
  • Open and close restaurant, bar, or food and beverage outlet shifts
  • Supervise food and beverage operations in absence of director or manager
  • Adhere to and reinforce all food and beverage standards, policies and procedures
  • Assist floor staff during busy periods
  • Apply knowledge of food and wine trends and event presentation
  • Monitor compliance with safety and liquor laws
  • Manage budgets and departmental financial goals
  • Motivate staff to solve guest and employee concerns
  • Train staff on cash handling and liquor control policies
  • Attend all pertinent meetings related to operations and events
  • Ensure meeting and event rooms are set according to event requirements
  • Lead shifts and participate in servicing events
  • Maintain inventory of function room amenities and controllable supplies
  • Schedule banquet and event service staff
  • Use banquet beverage tools for managing liquor costs
  • Assist with event technology as needed
  • Practice brand specific meeting services program
  • Manage departmental inventories and assets
  • Understand departmental goals and assist in monitoring
  • Comprehend budgets, operating statements and payroll reports
  • Communicate guest room status
  • Manage departmental controllable expenses
  • Verify accuracy of room rates
  • Work with engineering department for maintenance needs
  • Create and nurture hotel environment focused on motivation, empowerment and teamwork
  • Participate in performance appraisal process
  • Assist in interviewing and hiring
  • Schedule employees to ensure coverage and productivity
  • Encourage excellent customer service
  • Handle guest problems and complaints appropriately
  • Meet and greet guests
  • Understand night audit procedures
  • Understand various hotel department operations
  • Manage activities to maximize customer satisfaction
  • Identify developmental needs of team members and coach accordingly
