Job Description
Mitsukoshi is a renowned and esteemed Japanese department store company that boasts a rich heritage in providing not only premium retail goods but also exceptional dining experiences that celebrate authentic Japanese culture. The company is dedicated to offering outstanding customer service, often referred to as OMOTENASHI, which is the art of Japanese hospitality that anticipates guests’ needs with sincerity and meticulous attention to detail. Mitsukoshi's restaurants are known for their quality cuisine, meticulous presentation, and warm, welcoming atmosphere, all designed to provide guests with a memorable dining experience that reflects the essence of traditional and contemporary Japan.
The role of Assistant Manager at Mitsukoshi is an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about the food and beverage industry and Japanese culture. This role focuses on delivering exemplary OMOTENASHI service by successfully selling menus to guests and ensuring that each dining experience is unforgettable. The Assistant Manager serves as a cultural ambassador, expertly guiding the team to uphold the highest standards of hospitality, quality, and customer satisfaction. With direct oversight of sales goals and staff performance, the Assistant Manager contributes to the restaurant’s operational success by managing costs, maintaining health and safety standards, and ensuring that both the dining environment and service exceed guest expectations.
This role requires a dynamic individual who can lead by example, spending significant time in the dining room engaging directly with guests to create meaningful connections and enhance the overall atmosphere. The Assistant Manager is responsible for supervising cultural representatives and team members, providing constructive feedback, and fostering a united team environment committed to excellence. Critical to this role is the ability to balance operational elements such as manpower allocation, cost control, and compliance with quality standards while prioritizing guest satisfaction above all else. The Assistant Manager also collaborates with other managers to share best practices and innovative ideas to continually improve the restaurant's offerings and profitability.
An essential part of the position is overseeing the HACCP program, ensuring strict adherence to health codes and Disney standards for cleanliness and safety. The Assistant Manager must maintain an impeccable environment, from spotless dining areas to hygienic guest restrooms, reinforcing the company's commitment to quality and health. Additionally, preventative maintenance and collaboration with the operations support team ensure that all restaurant facilities and equipment are in optimal condition.
The role demands physical stamina and the ability to perform various physical tasks, including lifting or pushing up to 100 pounds, as well as prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, and manual dexterity for handling orders and service equipment. The working conditions involve a moderately noisy restaurant environment, and the successful candidate must be adaptable and resilient to thrive in this setting.
Overall, the Assistant Manager position at Mitsukoshi is a blend of leadership, cultural stewardship, and operational expertise, offering a unique opportunity to be part of a revered company that values tradition, innovation, and exemplary guest service. This position is crucial in creating memorable dining experiences that reflect the true spirit of Japanese hospitality, making it ideal for motivated professionals eager to advance their careers in an esteemed and culturally rich environment.
