The Assistant Manager role at RIT Dining involves managing and overseeing the day-to-day operations in these dining locations. This position is a front-line supervisory role that focuses on managing food preparation, assembly, and service with high standards of professionalism and compliance with food safety regulations. The Assistant Manager is responsible for ensuring that food service stations are well stocked and maintained, and that sanitation protocols are strictly followed to meet university and health standards. They play a pivotal role in supervising dining operations, leading by example in customer service while fostering a warm and hospitable atmosphere aligned with the values of the university.
In addition to operational duties, the Assistant Manager manages food and beverage sales, ensuring cash management procedures conform to university policies and POS system accuracy. Collaboration with team members to manage inventory, order supplies, and control budgets and revenue is critical to the successful fulfillment of this role. The position also involves training, coaching, and empowering staff to maintain positive attitudes and deliver outstanding customer service. Job Requirements
- Associate's degree in related field
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
- Eligibility to work in the United States
- Ability to work Monday through Friday with schedule flexibility during academic breaks and university events

- Knowledge of food service production and service techniques and standards
- Knowledge of food sanitation and safety standards and protocols
- Knowledge of POS systems operation and management

- Skill in identifying and resolving complex problems
- Ability to plan, delegate, train, and coach staff
Job Duties
- Manages the preparation, assembly, and service of food and dining options in a professional manner
- Assists with steaming, frying, reheating, and garnishing food displays as needed
- Ensures food service stations are set up, stocked, and maintained
- Oversees sanitation of food service preparation facilities and equipment compliance with standards
- Inspects equipment to ensure proper working condition
- Supervises dining operations to maintain quality customer service
- Leads by example when greeting and welcoming diners
- Promotes a warm and hospitable atmosphere
- Adheres to university values in interactions
- Manages food and beverage sales
- Ensures cash management and compliance with POS system procedures
