The Assistant Manager (AM) position at BURGER KING is a vital leadership role responsible for overseeing the restaurant's operational success. The AM functions as the operations leader under the guidance of the Restaurant General Manager (RGM), focusing on profitability, guest service, people development, and operations management. This full-time role requires the AM to manage daily activities within a single restaurant, directly impacting key performance outcomes. The Assistant Manager supervises a team of 20 to 45 employees, including Hourly Shift Coordinators and Team Members, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.

The role entails a diverse set of responsibilities, including inventory management, cost control, and asset maintenance to support financial profitability. The AM performs daily, weekly, and monthly inventory inspections, places and receives inventory orders, and ensures that preventive maintenance of the restaurant facility and equipment adheres to company standards. Additionally, the AM is accountable for enforcing all cash control and security procedures, safeguarding company assets, and maintaining financial integrity.

Guest experience is paramount in the AM’s duties. They motivate and guide team members to exceed guest expectations by delivering accurate, fast, and friendly service in a clean and welcoming environment. By fostering a culture centered on guest satisfaction, the AM helps maintain the brand’s reputation for excellent service.

People development is another key area of focus. The Assistant Manager provides coaching and feedback to Hourly Shift Coordinators and Team Members, nurturing their skills and enhancing overall restaurant performance. Leading by example, the AM ensures that operational standards are upheld and that the restaurant team works cohesively to meet speed of service guidelines and brand standards.

The Assistant Manager also supports operations by directing the team toward efficient product preparation and sales while stepping into the duties of an Hourly Shift Coordinator when necessary. This hands-on approach enables the AM to directly contribute to restaurant success and address any immediate operational needs.

This role requires candidates to be at least eighteen years old and possess a high school diploma or GED, with a preference for two years of college education. Previous experience in quick service restaurant management is highly valued, alongside a basic understanding of profit and loss management to influence profitability positively. Strong leadership skills, an understanding of guest service principles, and availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays are essential. The position also demands flexibility to work long or irregular shifts as required to ensure smooth restaurant operations.

Job Duties

  • Manages inventory costs and maintains inventory by performing daily, weekly, and monthly inventory inspections
  • places and receives inventory truck orders
  • maintains and regularly monitors a list of all restaurant assets
  • ensures preventative maintenance of restaurant facility and equipment is completed in accordance with company standards
  • ensures that the restaurant follows all cash control and security procedures
  • motivates and directs team members to exceed guest expectations with accurate, fast, and friendly service in a clean facility
  • provides coaching and feedback to shifts coordinators and team members to increase the restaurant team's capabilities and raise restaurant performance
  • directs restaurant team toward efficient and accurate preparation and sale of products for prompt delivery within established speed of service guidelines
  • ensures that restaurant upholds operational and brand standards
  • performs duties of hourly shift coordinator when necessary
