Job Description
Black Family Hospitality (BFH) is a family-owned Texas institution deeply rooted in generations of tradition, heart, and hospitality. Since its inception in 2014, BFH has grown to become a celebrated icon in the Texas dining scene, best known for its authentic Texas barbecue and elevated dining experiences. The company proudly operates several highly regarded restaurants, including Terry Black's BBQ and Opal's Oysters, each known for its dedication to quality, craftsmanship, bold flavors, and exceptional service. BFH has earned substantial recognition locally and beyond, thanks to its commitment to upholding culinary excellence and creating memorable experiences for every guest who walks through its doors. As a family-driven organization, BFH values its rich legacy, combining tradition with innovation to continuously redefine hospitality in Texas.
BFH is currently embarking on an exciting expansion with a new concept that fuses immersive entertainment, expertly crafted cocktails, thoughtful cuisine, and experiential hospitality in ways that transcend the traditional dining model. This innovative approach is designed to provide guests with not just a meal but a full sensory experience that engages storytelling, craftsmanship, and outstanding service. Becoming a part of the BFH team means joining a close-knit family where each team member is encouraged to contribute to and help shape the legacy and future of the brand.
The Restaurant Assistant Manager position at BFH is a key leadership role responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the restaurant under the General Manager's guidance. The position ensures that all service, quality, and performance standards are consistently maintained. The Assistant Manager will oversee front-of-house and back-of-house staff, coordinate shift schedules, maintain inventory levels, and ensure compliance with health and safety standards. A strong focus on staff training and development is essential since this role is responsible for fostering a positive team culture that supports growth and operational excellence. Additionally, the Assistant Manager handles guest relations by promptly addressing inquiries and concerns in a professional and courteous manner, supporting sales growth through effective cost control, and operational efficiency.
In addition to operational duties, the Restaurant Assistant Manager helps implement company policies, tracks financial performance metrics, and assists with creating an enjoyable and productive work environment. Training for this position will take place in Dallas and/or Austin, TX, until the new location opens. Overall, this role is ideal for candidates passionate about hospitality, eager to lead, and committed to delivering a memorable dining experience for every guest. The starting salary is $65,000, and the position comes with bonus opportunities and comprehensive health, dental, and vision benefits. This job offers an exceptional opportunity to grow within a reputable family-owned business that values tradition and innovation equally.
