Job Description
Jack in the Box is a nationally recognized fast-food restaurant chain known for its commitment to delivering quality food and exceptional service to its customers. Operating as a franchise organization, each restaurant is owned and managed by independent franchisees who uphold the brand's values of friendly, fun, clean, and safe environments. The company embraces a culture that prioritizes both employee wellbeing and guest satisfaction through a philosophy known as the Service Profit Chain, which links service quality, employee engagement, and profitable outcomes. This approach has made Jack in the Box a respected leader in the quick-service restaurant industry with a strong reputation for operational excellence and customer focus.
The Assistant Manager role at Jack in the Box is a pivotal position responsible for supporting restaurant operations alongside or in the absence of the Restaurant Manager. The Assistant Manager is entrusted with overseeing both internal and external service to ensure a seamless and positive dining experience for customers while maintaining high standards in food quality and safety. This position requires a hands-on leader who can recruit, train, develop, and evaluate employees to build a talented and motivated team. The role involves managing daily restaurant performance, including staffing, operational procedures, compliance with labor laws, and implementing the brand promise to foster a welcoming and respectful workplace culture.
Assistant Managers play a critical role in driving restaurant sales and enhancing profitability by analyzing operational and financial data, identifying trends, and executing strategies that align with company goals. They are expected to be visible leaders who engage with guests, respond professionally to any concerns, and serve as exemplary role models for service excellence. In addition to focusing on guest satisfaction and operational efficiency, Assistant Managers contribute to cost management and budgeting, ensuring that the restaurant adheres to financial targets without sacrificing service quality.
Candidates for this position should demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, integrity, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Experience in managing teams, delivering training and coaching, and problem-solving are essential competencies. This role requires knowledge of restaurant systems, food safety regulations, and the ability to use management information tools effectively. Physical stamina is also necessary given the active nature of the job, which includes standing for most of the shift, lifting moderate weights, and operating restaurant equipment.
The employment type is hourly, with pay ranging from $21.50 to $22.00 per hour depending on experience. As this position is with an independently owned franchisee, the franchisee holds responsibility for all employment-related matters, which may impact scheduling, supervision, and related HR decisions. Jack in the Box and its affiliates are committed to reasonable accommodations to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions and enjoy equal employment opportunities.
Overall, the Assistant Manager position offers an excellent opportunity for growth within a dynamic and customer-focused fast-food restaurant environment. It combines leadership, operational management, and customer service to drive success at the restaurant level while supporting the overall brand promise of Jack in the Box.
