The Assistant Manager role is pivotal in supporting the General Manager with all operational aspects to guarantee an exceptional member and staff experience at the gym. This is a full-time position that requires strong leadership acumen, a positive mindset, and proactive engagement in daily club activities. The Assistant Manager will be responsible for managing and developing a diverse team comprising Member Service Representatives, Trainers, and Custodians, ensuring that everyone works collaboratively to maintain a welcoming and safe fitness environment.
This role involves hands-on management with an emphasis on recruitment, training, scheduling, and ongoing employee development. By fostering a culture of accountability and positivity, the Assistant Manager helps cultivate high performance levels among team members. In addition, the Assistant Manager ensures tactical execution of marketing promotions, operational efficiency with prompt gym opening and closing, and the maintenance of cleanliness and safety standards that align with company policies.
The position demands excellent communication skills, both in handling member concerns and staff coordination. The Assistant Manager is often the direct point of contact for front desk operations, new member assays, and resolving day-to-day member queries or issues. Financial responsibilities include authorizing expenditures and refunds, making bank deposits, and tracking essential reports to support business goals.
Moreover, the role requires readiness to handle physical activities such as lifting, standing, walking, and other tasks that contribute to maintaining the facility’s functionality. The Assistant Manager occasionally works overnight shifts and must demonstrate adaptability alongside a strong commitment to the club’s mission of delivering a judgment-free, supportive environment.

Job Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Ability to work third shift occasionally
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Continual standing and walking during shift
- Continual talking in person or on phone during shift
- Physical demands include bending climbing balancing kneeling crouching and twisting
- Will encounter toxic chemicals such as cleaning agents
- One year supervisory experience
- Two years customer service experience
- Basic computer proficiency
- High School diploma or GED equivalent preferred

Job Duties
- Recruit hire train and develop high performing team consisting of Member Service Representatives Trainers and Custodians
- Create and maintain a welcoming atmosphere for all members prospective members and guests ensuring team follows superior customer service guidelines
- Manage team including scheduling shifts ensuring coverage leading by example coaching resolving team member issues discussing disciplinary measures with management
- Handle front desk duties including answering phones assisting callers checking members in signing up new members giving gym tours facilitating member requests and issues
- Ensure timely opening and closing of gym and oversee cleanliness safety and maintenance of facility including equipment repair communication
- Manage marketing efforts train team on promotions authorize expenditures refunds make daily bank deposits prepare HR forms track statistics and reports maintain backup support for absent team members
