Job Description

Panda Express is a renowned leader in the fast casual dining industry, specializing in American Chinese cuisine. Established in 1983 in Glendale, California, Panda Express has grown to become the largest family-owned American Chinese restaurant concept in the United States, with nearly 2,800 locations worldwide. The brand is committed to delivering high-quality Asian dining experiences while fostering a workplace environment that promotes the professional and personal development of its associates. Known for its vibrant culture, Panda Express values teamwork, mentorship, and continuous learning, ensuring that all employees have opportunities to grow and succeed within the company.

The role of an Assistant Manager at Panda Express is integral to the smooth and successful operation of a single store. This position focuses on leadership duties such as hiring, managing, and directing team members to achieve financial goals and deliver exceptional guest experiences. The Assistant Manager works closely with the store team to maintain high operational standards, ensure food safety and quality, and uphold the brand's customer-first philosophy. Panda Express supports its Assistant Managers through a paid leadership training program lasting three or more weeks, providing hands-on learning and preparation for the challenges and responsibilities involved in store management. This foundation ensures Assistant Managers are well-equipped to lead their teams effectively and drive store success. The company offers a competitive compensation package, including bonuses, and comprehensive benefits such as medical, vision, dental insurance, 401K with company match, paid time off, and access to discounts on various lifestyle benefits.

Assistant Managers are expected to be flexible within their work location, able to work within a 50-mile radius of the store, and adapt to flexible schedules that often include weekends. Food safety certification such as Serve Safe is required to ensure compliance with health standards. The role demands the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, standing for extended periods, managing high noise levels, and fulfilling physical duties like lifting up to 50 pounds. Strong communication skills and the capability to handle difficult situations are essential for providing a positive workplace atmosphere and delivering outstanding customer service. Panda Express fiercely supports inclusion and equal opportunity, providing reasonable accommodations to all applicants and employees under the Americans with Disabilities Act. The company prides itself on creating a family-oriented culture where associates feel valued and empowered to advance their careers while positively impacting their communities.
