The Applebee's Assistant Manager role within Flynn Group is a dynamic leadership position deeply involved in all facets of daily restaurant operations. An Assistant Manager acts as a key team leader, ensuring that every guest and team member has a passionate and positive experience. This position requires excellent problem-solving skills, the ability to effectively manage stress, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of service and quality. As an Assistant Manager, you will lead by example, motivating your team to deliver timely, friendly service that meets company objectives while cultivating a culture aligned with Flynn Group’s core values. The role also involves hands-on responsibilities, including staff scheduling, inventory management, food preparation oversight, safety and sanitation enforcement, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
Assistant Managers at Flynn Applebee's are expected to engage directly with guests, promptly addressing verbal complaints and ensuring satisfaction. They also play a pivotal role in recruiting and training new team members and managers, continuously developing staff capabilities through coaching, performance reviews, and documentation. The position requires a strong knowledge of company policies, local regulations, and cost control measures. Flexibility is crucial as the Assistant Manager must be willing and able to work various shifts, including weekends, and assist in different restaurant roles such as cooking, bartending, expo, and seating guests. Job Requirements
- At least a high school diploma or equivalent
- 2-3 years of restaurant management experience
- certification in Serve Safe Food and Alcohol preferred
- ability to work various shifts including weekends
- capacity to stand and move for up to 10 hours
- physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- good reading and writing skills
- dexterity for using small tools and equipment
- willingness to work in multiple restaurant positions as needed
- compliance with all company policies and local, state, federal regulations
- strong customer service orientation
Job Qualifications
- At least 2-3 years restaurant management experience
- Serve Safe Food and Serve Safe Alcohol certifications are a plus
- strong leadership and team-building skills

Job Duties
- Ensures timely, friendly service according to company guidelines, achieving established objectives of the unit
- cultivates a culture in accordance with the Flynn Applebee's core values and beliefs
- ensures the immediate response and correction of all verbal guest complaints to self and staff
- ensures guest contact as a priority with completion of required table visits established by Flynn Applebee's standards
- maintains departmental inventory levels
- ensures product preparation and presentation uncompromisingly meet company standards by performing line checks
- effectively schedules employees to meet sales demands
- maintains effective safety and security programs
- promotes and leads restaurant organization, cleanliness, and sanitation
- performs routine maintenance and immediately reports needed repairs to General Manager/Area Director
- promotes quality recruitment and referrals of potential team members and management candidates
- promotes Flynn Applebee's training procedures for new managers
- helps maintain a trained staff through effective use of employment orientation, individual training sessions, employee meetings, and implementation of company policy and training systems
- participates in the constant development of employees using One-on-One and performance documentation and contributes to written evaluations
- assesses employee efficiency, provides fair feedback regularly, and works on employee development areas
- monitors acceptable employee performance and documents situations requiring disciplinary or corrective action
- assures compliance with company policies, practices, and procedures
- responsible for controlling cost in assigned department
- ensures compliance with local, state, and federal laws, regulations, and guidelines
- drives bi-weekly/weekly food and liquor inventories at the AD/GM's request and is accountable for completion
- prepares and submits accurate daily paperwork
- assures sanitation standards meet or exceed Health Department and Flynn Applebee's standards
- provides a role model for managers and employees
- develops self on all store-related technology
- willing and able to work in all positions and assist in team member roles as needed including cooking, expo, seating guests, bartending
- uses the Management Development Program for continuous growth of leadership skills and proficiencies
