The Applebee’s Assistant Manager role within Flynn Group is a dynamic, hands-on position requiring dedication, leadership, and a passion for hospitality. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in the daily operations of an Applebee’s restaurant. As an Assistant Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring every guest and employee has an outstanding experience by promoting a positive culture aligned with Flynn Applebee’s core values. You will lead by example, manage team members, and effectively handle challenges to maintain smooth operations.
Typical responsibilities include overseeing customer service to ensure it meets company standards, addressing guest complaints promptly, managing staff schedules to meet sales demands, and maintaining high safety, cleanliness, and sanitation standards. You will also be involved in inventory management, cost control in your department, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. Beyond operations, this role involves recruitment, training, and performance evaluation to help develop a capable and motivated team.
Assistant Managers are expected to be versatile—able to step into various roles within the restaurant such as cooking, bartending, or hosting as needed—to support the team during busy periods. Physical demands include standing for up to 10 hours per shift, safely lifting up to 50 pounds, and working flexible shifts including weekends. Job Requirements
- At least 2-3 years restaurant management experience
- Serve Safe Food and Serve Safe Alcohol certifications also a plus
- Ability to work various shifts including weekends
- Ability to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 10 hours
- Ability to lift safely up to 50 pounds
- Read and write to facilitate communication
- Possess finger and hand dexterity for using small tools and equipment
Job Qualifications
- At least 2-3 years restaurant management experience
- Serve Safe Food and Serve Safe Alcohol certifications are a plus
- Proven leadership and team management skills
- Strong problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work flexible shifts including weekends
- Capable of handling stressful situations with professionalism
Job Duties
- Ensures timely, friendly service according to company guidelines, achieving established objectives of the unit
- Cultivates a culture in accordance with the Flynn Applebee's Premier Card of our core values and beliefs
- Ensures the immediate response and correction of all verbal guest complaints to self and staff
- Ensures guest contact as a priority with completion of required table visits established by Flynn Applebee's standards
- Maintains departmental inventory levels
- Ensures product preparation and presentation uncompromisingly meeting company standards by performing line checks
- Effectively schedules employees to meet sales demands
