Job Description
Panda Express is a leading American fast casual restaurant chain specializing in American Chinese cuisine. Founded in 1983 in Glendale, California, it has grown to become the largest family-owned American Chinese restaurant concept in America, with nearly 2,800 locations worldwide. Known for its commitment to delivering exceptional Asian dining experiences, Panda Express emphasizes a culture built around family values, professional growth, and community impact. The company prides itself on maintaining an inclusive and supportive work environment where associates are inspired to better their lives, both personally and professionally.
Panda Express is currently seeking experienced and motivated leaders to join their store management team as Assistant Managers. This role plays a vital part in the operation of each store, bearing responsibility for managing daily business activities, financial goals, and ensuring top-tier guest satisfaction. The Assistant Manager contributes significantly to a store’s success by overseeing the hiring, training, and leadership of the store’s associates. To help achieve this, Panda Express offers a comprehensive paid Store Management Leadership Training program that spans three or more weeks. This training is designed to equip leaders with the knowledge, skills, and tools they need to excel in their roles and grow within the company.
This full-time position requires flexibility, including the ability to work weekends and the willingness to work at any store location within a 50-mile radius. Certified food safety knowledge is also essential, with a requirement for Serve Safe certification. The company offers a generous compensation package, including bonus opportunities alongside a range of benefits that support the health, financial security, and well-being of its associates and their families. These include medical, dental, and vision coverage, short-term disability insurance, income protection, a 401(k) plan with company matching, and paid time off options that include holidays and bereavement leave.
In addition to tangible benefits, Panda Express encourages career development and leadership skills through ongoing coaching, scholarships, and continuous education assistance, creating opportunities for upward mobility within the organization. Staff also receive unique perks such as free meals during shifts, discounts on theme parks and gym memberships, and various community engagement opportunities. The work environment in Panda Express kitchens is fast-paced and physically demanding, requiring stamina, effective communication skills, and adaptability to shifting priorities. The company is committed to inclusivity and accessibility, providing reasonable accommodations to applicants and employees with disabilities to ensure a fair and equitable hiring and working process.
Joining Panda Express as an Assistant Manager offers the chance to be part of a dynamic team dedicated to excellence and a shared mission of positively impacting its customers, communities, and the lives of its associates. This role is ideal for those who are passionate about leadership, customer service, and the foodservice industry and who want to grow their career within a respected and supportive corporate family.
