Job Description
Flynn Group, founded by Greg Flynn, began its journey in 1999 with the acquisition of 8 Applebee's restaurants. Over the past two decades, the company has experienced significant growth by opening new stores and acquiring other franchise operators. Today, Flynn Group is recognized as the largest Applebee's franchisee globally, boasting over 460 Applebee's locations across 24 states. This solid foundation has enabled Flynn Group to diversify its portfolio, expanding into various restaurant brands, different countries, and other industries.
Flynn Group is renowned for owning and operating a wide range of world-class, iconic brands, including Applebee's, Arby's, Panera Bread, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, Wendy's, and Planet Fitness. This diversity positions Flynn Group as the largest franchise operator worldwide. The company’s core mission is to excel as the premier operator within each brand. This mission is supported by a commitment to strong core values: Care Genuinely for People, Play like a Champion, and Win as One.
The role of an Applebee's Assistant Manager within Flynn Group embodies the company’s dedication to exceptional service and team leadership. This is a dynamic position focused on managing the daily operations of the restaurant, ensuring a memorable experience for guests, and fostering a passionate and cohesive team environment. As an Assistant Manager, you will be responsible for leading by example, solving problems efficiently, and maintaining composure under pressure. This role demands hard work and dedication but promises a fulfilling and enjoyable work atmosphere.
In this position, you will oversee many aspects of restaurant management, including promoting friendly and timely customer service, maintaining inventory and safety standards, managing staff schedules, and ensuring compliance with food preparation and sanitation guidelines. You will play a crucial role in cultivating a positive culture aligned with Flynn Applebee’s core values, addressing any guest complaints swiftly, and ensuring regular guest interaction through table visits. Additionally, you will manage employee recruitment, training, evaluation, and development to build an effective workforce.
The Assistant Manager will also be tasked with optimizing operational efficiency by monitoring performance, managing costs, ensuring adherence to company policies and legal regulations, and maintaining accurate paperwork and inventory. A key part of the role involves hands-on participation in restaurant functions, with the willingness to perform various roles such as cooking, bartending, or seating guests when needed.
The ideal candidate will have at least 2-3 years of restaurant management experience, with certifications such as Serve Safe Food and Serve Safe Alcohol viewed as advantageous. Physical requirements include the ability to work varied shifts including weekends, stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and possess sufficient dexterity for handling small tools and equipment. The average annual earnings range from $63,000 to $78,000, reflecting the company’s commitment to rewarding capable and committed leaders.
Flynn Group values diversity and inclusion and is dedicated to providing reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities. This role offers the opportunity to grow within one of the largest and most respected franchise organizations in the world, contributing to a vibrant and supportive work culture committed to excellence and team success.
