The role of Assistant Manager at Habit Burger & Grill is vital to ensuring the smooth day-to-day operations of the restaurant. Working closely with the General Manager, the Assistant Manager plays a key leadership role, coordinating communication and teamwork among staff to meet and exceed restaurant goals. This position requires a natural leader who is passionate about people and committed to delivering an exceptional customer experience every time. The Assistant Manager is responsible for recruiting, training, and developing team members across both front-of-house (FOH) and back-of-house (BOH) operations, making sure that all members uphold the company’s high standards in food quality, safety, and customer service.

The Assistant Manager oversees daily restaurant operations, including managing shifts, maintaining cleanliness, inventory control, labor and food cost management, scheduling, and ensuring compliance with all safety and sanitation regulations. They also play an important role in fostering a positive workplace culture by conducting one-on-one succession planning meetings, supporting staff development, and promoting a respectful, inclusive environment where team members can thrive. In this role, problem-solving skills, conflict resolution, leadership qualities, and professionalism are essential.

Job Requirements

  • 2-4 year of experience in related food service management position preferred
  • high school degree or equivalent preferred
  • food manager certification and/or ServSafe Manager certificate required
  • ability to work a flexible full-time schedule based on restaurant needs
  • ability to travel occasionally for meetings, conferences, and training

Job Duties

  • assist in recruiting, hiring, and onboarding of FOH & BOH team members
  • assist and supervise the training and development of FOH & BOH team members
  • uphold food preparation specifics by ensuring standard operational procedures are followed for consistent delivery of quality food items
  • communicate, train, and educate team members and shift leaders on all changes or new procedures, processes, products, promotions, or equipment introduced to the restaurant
  • conduct succession planning 1-on-1s with designated team members
  • ensure team members comply with all established standards, including personal safety, food safety, sanitation, personal hygiene, appearance, and uniform
  • manage daily operations of a restaurant shift
  • increase sales by ensuring guest satisfaction and prompt problem resolution
  • ensure food quality and availability
  • maintain cleanliness, organization, and stocking in all areas of the restaurant
  • assist in the development of team members
  • maintain and build sales
  • conduct and manage inventory
  • place food orders and process invoices
  • track and manage labor and food costs to meet restaurant goals
  • assist in the preparation of work schedules for team members
  • manage daily operations of opening, closing and mid shifts
  • maintain restaurant equipment in working order and request service or repair for issues
  • directly responsible for maintaining food safety, personal safety, and sanitation standards for the restaurant according to health department regulations and company standards
  • comply with and maintain personal hygiene, appearance, and uniform standards for all team members
  • monitor adherence to all applicable labor laws
  • other projects/duties as assigned by the restaurant general manager
