The role of an Applebee's Assistant Manager within Flynn Group is a vital position dedicated to overseeing the daily operations of the restaurant. This role demands a dynamic leader who is passionate about delivering exceptional guest experiences and fostering a positive work environment for staff. The Assistant Manager is expected to engage actively in all facets of restaurant management, from ensuring timely and friendly service to handling customer complaints with professionalism. Assistant Managers are also instrumental in upholding the Flynn Applebee's Premier Card values, ensuring restaurant safety and sanitation, managing inventory, and supporting employee development through training and performance evaluations. The role requires flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends, and the physical stamina to perform demanding tasks such as lifting up to 50 pounds and standing for extended periods. With a focus on continuous growth, the Assistant Manager will utilize the Management Development Program to enhance leadership skills and contribute to the overall success of the restaurant and Flynn Group’s broader business objectives.

Job Requirements

  • At least 2-3 years restaurant management experience
  • ability to work various shifts including weekends
  • ability to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to ten hours
  • ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds
  • ability to read and write to facilitate communication
  • finger and hand dexterity for using small tools and equipment

Job Qualifications

  • At least 2-3 years restaurant management experience
  • serve safe food and serve safe alcohol certifications are a plus

Job Duties

  • Ensures timely, friendly service according to company guidelines, achieving established objectives of the unit
  • cultivates a culture in accordance with the Flynn Applebee's Premier Card of core values and beliefs
  • ensures the immediate response and correction of all verbal guest complaints to self and staff
  • ensures guest contact as a priority with completion of required table visits established by Flynn Applebee's standards
  • maintains departmental inventory levels
  • ensures product preparation and presentation uncompromisingly meeting company standards by performing line checks
  • effectively schedules employees to meet sales demands
  • maintains effective safety and security programs
  • promotes and leads restaurant organization, cleanliness and sanitation
  • performs routine maintenance and immediately reports to the General Manager/Area Director of needed repairs
  • promotes quality recruitment and referrals of potential team member and management candidates
  • promotes Flynn | Applebee's training procedures for new managers
  • helps maintain a trained staff through effective use of employment orientation, individual training sessions, employee meetings and implementation of company policy and training systems
  • participates in the constant development of employees using One-on-One and performance documentation, and contributes to the completion of written evaluations
  • assesses the efficiency of employees, provides fair feedback on a regular basis, and continuously works with employees on their areas of development
  • monitors acceptable employee performance and documents situations that require or could lead to disciplinary or corrective action
  • assures compliance with company policies, practices and procedures
  • responsible for controlling cost in assigned department
  • compliance with local, state and federal laws, regulations and guidelines
  • drives bi-weekly/weekly food and liquor inventories at the AD/GM's request and is accountable for completion
  • responsible for preparing and submitting accurate daily paperwork
  • assures sanitation standards meet or exceed Health Department and Flynn Applebee's standards
  • provides a role model for managers and employees
  • develops self on all store related technology
  • must be willing and able to work in all positions and assist in a team member position as needed when in a restaurant, including cooking on the line, expo, seating guests, bartending
  • uses the Management Development Program for continuous growth of leadership skills and proficiencies
