Job Description

Panda Express, founded in Glendale, California in 1983, stands as the largest family-owned American Chinese restaurant concept in the United States. With nearly 2,800 locations worldwide, Panda Express is renowned for delivering exceptional Asian dining experiences rooted in family values and a commitment to the professional and personal development of its associates. The company embraces an environment where team members are inspired to improve their lives and contribute positively to the communities they serve. Panda Express is a leader in the quick-service restaurant industry, dedicated to fostering a supportive, inclusive, and innovative workplace where diversity is celebrated, and employees can thrive both personally and professionally.

The company is currently seeking experienced leaders to join its store management team as Assistant Managers. This role is full-time and offers a competitive hourly pay range of $27 to $30, based on location and experience. As an Assistant Manager, you will be responsible for assisting with the daily operations of a single store, including hiring, managing, and directing associates to meet financial goals and deliver exceptional guest experiences. Your leadership will play a crucial role in ensuring the success of the store by maintaining high standards in customer service, operational efficiency, and team performance. To prepare you for success, Panda Express provides a comprehensive three-week (or longer) paid Store Management Leadership Training program, coupled with ongoing mentorship and support from a community invested in your growth. This training is designed to help you develop essential skills in leadership, team-building, financial management, and operational excellence.

Beyond the rewarding nature of the role, Panda Express offers a generous compensation package that includes free meals during shifts, medical, vision, and dental insurance, and additional voluntary benefits such as short-term disability and cancer income protection for full-time employees. Other perks include a 401(k) plan with company matching, paid time off, paid holidays, bereavement and funeral leave, and a Leave Share Program that underscores the company’s commitment to work-life balance. The role also offers discounts at theme parks and gyms, career advancement opportunities, continuous education assistance, scholarships, and lucrative referral bonuses. Panda Express values its associates and invests in their growth through ongoing career and leadership development programs.

The Assistant Manager position requires flexibility in work location within a 50-mile radius, the ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, and certification in food safety (Serve Safe certified). The work environment includes fast-paced operations with physical demands such as standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and operating kitchen equipment. Panda Express strongly supports diversity and inclusion, providing equal opportunities to all applicants and employees without discrimination, and offering reasonable accommodations to those with disabilities throughout the hiring process and employment.

Joining Panda Express as an Assistant Manager means becoming part of a family-oriented company dedicated not only to exceptional food and customer experiences but also to nurturing your professional journey in a supportive and growth-driven environment. If you are passionate about leadership, operational excellence, and delivering memorable guest experiences in the vibrant food service industry, this role offers an exciting career path with a respected industry leader committed to rewarding and developing its team members.
