The Assistant Manager (AM) at BURGER KING plays a critical role in the daily operations of a single restaurant. Reporting directly to the Restaurant General Manager (RGM), the AM is responsible for leading the restaurant team of 20 to 45 employees, which includes Hourly Shift Coordinators and Team Members. This leadership position focuses on enhancing profitability, guest satisfaction, people development, and operational efficiency. The AM is integral in managing the restaurant’s inventory, securing the safety of cash handling, maintaining assets, and ensuring preventative maintenance of the restaurant facility and equipment.

In this role, the Assistant Manager drives key performance outcomes by motivating and guiding team members to deliver fast, friendly, and accurate guest service in a clean and welcoming environment. The AM provides coaching and continuous feedback to improve team members’ skills and overall restaurant performance. They also ensure that all operational and brand standards are upheld to maintain the quality BURGER KING guests expect. Flexibility is essential in this position since the AM may perform the duties of an Hourly Shift Coordinator when necessary and must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. The role requires a leadership mindset capable of managing team dynamics, resolving issues swiftly, and fostering a positive workplace culture.

Job Requirements

  • must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
  • high school diploma or GED required
  • 1-2 years of previous quick service restaurant experience
  • experience in management preferred
  • some understanding of P&L interpretation and management to influence profitability
  • demonstrated leadership skills
  • demonstrated understanding of guest service principles
  • available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • ability to work long and/or irregular shifts as needed for proper functioning of the restaurant

Job Qualifications

  • must be at least eighteen (18) years of age

  • 1-2 years of previous quick service restaurant experience, experience in management preferred

Job Duties

  • manages inventory costs and maintains inventory by performing daily, weekly, and monthly inventory inspections
  • places and receives inventory truck orders
  • maintains and regularly monitors a list of all restaurant assets
  • ensures preventative maintenance of restaurant facility and equipment is completed in accordance with company standards, interacting with external vendors as required
  • ensures that the restaurant follows all cash control and security procedures such as safe counting and cash drawers
  • motivates and directs team members to exceed guest expectations with accurate, fast, and friendly service in a clean facility
  • provides coaching and feedback to shift coordinators and team members to increase the restaurant team’s capabilities and raise restaurant performance
  • directs restaurant team toward efficient and accurate preparation and sale of products for prompt delivery within established speed of service guidelines
  • ensures that restaurant upholds operational and brand standards
  • performs duties of hourly shift coordinator when necessary
