The role of Restaurant Assistant Manager at Wendy's is a vital leadership position responsible for supporting daily restaurant operations and contributing to a service culture aimed at "Delighting Every Customer" while driving sales growth. The Assistant Manager (AM) works collaboratively with the restaurant management team to ensure high standards of food safety, quality, service, and cleanliness. This role involves training and coaching employees at all levels, from crew members to store managers, to model exemplary customer service behaviors and maintain compliance with company policies and local health regulations. The AM plays an active role in daily team communication through effective huddles and meetings, ensuring that the team is aligned with the company’s mission and operational goals.

In addition to managing customer service excellence, the Assistant Manager is responsible for analyzing sales data, identifying opportunities for improvement, and implementing strategic actions to maximize restaurant profitability. They oversee labor scheduling to maintain efficient coverage and ensure that the restaurant meets or exceeds its sales and operational targets. The AM also acts as a key decision-maker in resolving customer complaints, adjusting operational plans, and supporting marketing efforts to enhance the restaurant’s local presence and customer engagement.

The position demands strong organizational, interpersonal, and leadership skills, along with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. The AM must maintain ServSafe certification and demonstrate a thorough understanding of employment laws while fostering a professional and safe workplace. The role requires flexibility in working hours, including all shifts and days of the week, with travel to multiple locations when necessary. Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • minimum three years of restaurant management experience preferred
  • at least one year of full-time equivalent supervisory experience required
  • one year or more of full-time equivalent restaurant, retail, customer service or equivalent experience required
  • must maintain ServSafe certification
  • knowledge of federal, state and local employment laws
  • ability to quickly become knowledgeable about and train others in Wendy's systems and employee development programs
  • ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • ability to maintain composure and provide sound advice and direction
  • strong customer orientation focus
  • demonstration of professionalism, composure and discretion
  • excellent written and oral communication skills
  • experience with POS systems

Job Duties

  • Train, monitor and reinforce food safety procedures to store management, team trainers and crew employees
  • ensure all food safety procedures are executed according to company policies and health/sanitation regulations
  • coach and retrain managers as required and take corrective actions as appropriate
  • work with Restaurant Management team to train, develop and communicate with crew members and team trainers through team huddles and meetings
  • supervise crew members and team trainers to maximize retention
  • create a service culture designed to "Delight Every Customer" by leading, modeling and coaching exemplary customer service behaviors
  • lead and drive the selling culture through customer service, sales incentives and average ticket growth
  • analyze results and coach consistent selling behaviors
  • maximize store sales goals versus the annual operating plan
  • evaluate store performance and develop plans to resolve unfavorable trends
  • project, create and execute effective labor scheduling
  • monitor labor variances and adjust accordingly
  • partner with other restaurant managers to set the Daily Operations Plan
  • analyze and problem solve customer feedback to coach on opportunities and recommend corrective action
  • drive and execute the marketing calendar including local restaurant marketing
  • ensure consistent huddles on all day parts focusing on customer expectations
  • supervise, train, mentor and develop crew members and restaurant management team
  • reinforce policies and procedures for a safe, efficient and professional environment
  • ensure continual improvement of quality, service and cleanliness standards
