Flynn Group, founded by Greg Flynn in 1999, embarked on its journey by acquiring eight Applebee's restaurants. Over the past two decades, Flynn Group has experienced remarkable growth by both building new stores and acquiring existing franchises, ultimately emerging as the largest Applebee's franchisee worldwide. With over 460 Applebee's locations spanning 24 states, Flynn Applebee's represents just one of the seven premier brands operating under the Flynn Group umbrella. Today, Flynn Group has evolved into the largest franchise operator globally, owning and managing a diverse portfolio of world-class restaurant brands across multiple segments, including Applebee's, Arby's, Panera Bread, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, Wendy's, and Planet Fitness. The company’s primary mission is centered on being the premier operator within each brand it manages. This commitment is propelled by its core values: Care Genuinely for People, Play like a Champion, and Win as One.

The role of Assistant Manager at an Applebee's restaurant within Flynn Group is pivotal to the restaurant's day-to-day success. As an essential member of the leadership team, the Assistant Manager is engaged in managing every facet of restaurant operations, ensuring that guests and staff are consistently passionate about their Applebee's experience. The role requires a blend of hard work and enthusiasm, promising a rewarding and enjoyable work environment.

Assistant Managers at Applebee's are responsible for ensuring timely and friendly service that aligns with company standards, creating a positive guest experience that achieves established objectives. Beyond service, they foster a positive organizational culture reflecting Flynn Applebee's core values. Handling guest complaints promptly and effectively is key, as is maintaining departmental inventory, overseeing food quality through regular line checks, and scheduling employees to meet the sales demands efficiently.

Safety, cleanliness, and sanitation standards are a top priority, with the Assistant Manager promoting and leading these efforts to maintain a safe and welcoming environment. The role also includes routine maintenance oversight, recruitment and training of team members and management candidates, employee development through coaching, performance documentation, and evaluation. An integral part of the job involves maintaining compliance with company policies and procedures, local regulations, and driving the financial performance of assigned departments by controlling costs and completing accurate paperwork.

Additionally, this role requires flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends, and hands-on involvement in all restaurant positions when necessary, such as cooking, bartending, or seating guests. Growth is encouraged through the Management Development Program to continually enhance leadership skills. Compensation for Assistant Managers ranges from $19 to $23.50 per hour, equating to approximately $54,340 to $67,200 annually based on a 50-hour workweek, with opportunities for performance-based bonuses depending on location.

Flynn Group values diversity and inclusiveness, serving as an equal opportunity employer dedicated to providing reasonable accommodations to individuals with disabilities throughout the application process. This Assistant Manager position offers competitive wages, profit-sharing or bonuses, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits, a 401(k) plan with company match, paid vacation, paid sick leave, and progressive paid time off policies for longer-term employees.
