Since its founding in Glendale, California, in 1983, the company has grown to become the largest family-owned restaurant group in the United States, proudly embracing family values and fostering a dynamic and inclusive workplace culture. With a commitment to professional and personal growth, Panda Express invests extensively in the development of its associates through paid management leadership training, ongoing mentorship, and opportunities for career advancement. The organization seeks to build a community where employees are inspired to better their lives while contributing meaningfully to their teams and the communities around them.
The Assistant Manager role at Panda Express is a pivotal position within the store management team, responsible for overseeing the operational aspects of a single store. This role requires a hands-on leader who is passionate about driving results, managing staff, and ensuring the delivery of excellent guest experiences. Assistant Managers support store success by hiring, managing, and directing associates to achieve financial goals, maintain quality standards, and foster a positive work environment. To prepare candidates for this critical role, Panda Express provides an extensive store leadership training program lasting three or more weeks.
Compensation for this role ranges from $26.50 to $29.50 per hour, with individual pay determined by factors such as location and experience. The company offers a competitive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, voluntary short-term disability, cancer income protection insurance for full-time associates, a 401(k) plan with company match, and paid time off including holidays and bereavement leave. Team members also enjoy perks such as free meals during shifts, discounts on gym memberships and theme park admissions, and ongoing opportunities for professional growth and education assistance. Panda Express is dedicated to creating an equitable workplace, providing reasonable accommodations as required by the Americans with Disabilities Act, and fostering an inclusive environment free from discrimination based on any protected characteristic.
