Job Description

Panda Express, a leader in the American Chinese restaurant industry, is a dynamic company dedicated to delivering exceptional Asian dining experiences. Founded in Glendale, California, in 1983, it has grown to become the largest family-owned American Chinese restaurant concept in the United States, with nearly 2,800 locations globally. The company embraces a strong set of family values and is committed to fostering a workplace environment where associates are inspired to improve their personal and professional lives. Panda Express operates with a mission to impact not just its team but also the communities it serves, creating a supportive and inclusive culture that values diversity and equal opportunity. As an equal opportunity employer, Panda Express strictly adheres to all federal, state, and local laws concerning workplace accommodation and nondiscrimination, ensuring an equitable hiring process for all candidates, including provisions under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

The role of Assistant Store Manager at Panda Express is a pivotal leadership position within the store's management team. This role requires a highly motivated individual who is passionate about managing and leading associates to achieve financial goals while ensuring outstanding customer service and guest experiences. Assistant Managers are tasked with overseeing various operational aspects of their assigned store, including hiring, training, managing, and directing team members to maintain a productive and positive work environment. To prepare for success, Panda Express provides comprehensive and paid Store Management Leadership Training lasting three or more weeks, along with continuous mentorship and community support from experienced leaders within the Panda family. This preparation equips Assistant Managers to handle diverse challenges in a fast-paced restaurant environment effectively.

In this position, flexibility and adaptability are essential as the Assistant Manager must be capable of working within a 50-mile radius of store locations and maintain a flexible schedule that includes weekends. The role also involves adhering to strict food safety standards, requiring candidates to be Serve Safe certified. Physical requirements include the ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and work efficiently in a bustling kitchen environment that can be noisy and hot. Panda Express values candidates with strong interpersonal skills, effective verbal communication, and the ability to navigate conflicts or difficult situations with professionalism.

Panda Express recognizes the hard work and dedication of its team through a competitive compensation package, with wage ranges from $22 to $25 per hour based on location and experience, alongside attractive bonus opportunities. Employees enjoy a variety of benefits that underscore the company’s commitment to their wellbeing. Benefits include medical, vision, and dental insurance, voluntary short-term disability, cancer income protection, as well as a pre-tax dependent care flexible spending account and a 401K plan with company match. Paid time off, holidays, bereavement leave, and a Leave Share Program are also provided, enhancing work-life balance. Other perks such as free meals during work hours, discounts on theme parks and gym memberships, educational assistance, leadership development programs, and an associate referral bonus reflect the company’s investment in the growth and success of its associates. Candidates who meet and maintain eligibility for these benefits are supported throughout their tenure at Panda Express.

Overall, working as an Assistant Manager at Panda Express offers not only a rewarding career opportunity with a globally recognized brand but also the chance to develop leadership skills in a nurturing and inclusive environment. The company’s dedication to training, development, and community involvement ensures that associates not only have fulfilling careers but also meaningful experiences that extend beyond the workplace. If you are passionate about leadership in the restaurant industry and want to join a company that values your growth and success, Panda Express invites you to explore this exciting opportunity.
