Job Description
Panda Express is a leading American fast-casual restaurant chain specializing in American Chinese cuisine. Founded in 1983 in Glendale, California, it has grown to become the largest family-owned American Chinese restaurant concept in the United States, with close to 2,300 locations worldwide. Panda Express is committed to its mission of delivering exceptional Asian dining experiences while fostering an organization culture rooted in family values, diversity, and professional growth. The company is known for its dedication to the professional and personal development of its associates, providing an environment that encourages learning, mentorship, and leadership opportunities.
The opportunity at Panda Express is for the position of Assistant Manager, a pivotal role within the store management team. This role involves overseeing the daily operation of a single Panda Express location, making key decisions focused on hiring, managing, and directing team members to meet financial goals and ensuring outstanding guest experiences. The Assistant Manager is essentially responsible for the overall success of their store, working hands-on to support and lead their teams effectively. To equip candidates for success in this role, Panda Express provides a comprehensive paid Store Management Leadership Training program lasting three or more weeks. This training ensures new Assistant Managers receive the necessary mentorship and skills to thrive in their position.
Panda Express rewards its team members with a competitive hourly wage ranging between $29 and $32, depending on experience and location. Additional rewards and benefits include free meals during work hours, a generous compensation package with bonus opportunities, and various insurance benefits such as medical, vision, dental, short-term disability, and cancer income protection for full-time associates. Employees also have access to a pre-tax dependent care flexible spending account, a 401K plan with company match, paid time off, paid holidays, bereavement leave, and participation in the Leave Share Program. The company further offers discounts on theme parks, gym memberships, and other perks, along with chances to engage in community service and give back.
The ideal candidate will hold at least a high school diploma, possess flexibility to work across multiple store locations within a 50-mile radius, and be able to work flexible schedules including weekends. Serve Safe certification for food safety is a requirement, ensuring that all food handling adheres to established safety standards. The workspace can be fast-paced and physically demanding, requiring standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working efficiently in a high-energy environment.
Panda Express prides itself on being an Equal Opportunity Employer, committed to inclusiveness and diversity. The company complies with all applicable laws concerning workplace accommodation and non-discrimination, working to provide reasonable accommodations to qualified individuals under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). This role offers a meaningful career path with ongoing leadership development, comprehensive training, continuous education assistance, scholarships, and attractive referral bonuses, making it an excellent choice for those looking to grow within the restaurant management industry.
