This organization upholds the rich heritage of the Western Shoshone and Northern Paiute peoples, serving more than 2,000 tribal members through various essential services including health, education, finance, social services, natural resources, recreation, courts, and administration. With approximately 300 employees, the Sho-Pai Tribes create an environment that blends public service with growth and opportunity. The organization is on the cusp of expanding with the planned opening of a casino and new business initiatives, which amplify the need for skilled professionals to contribute meaningfully to this close-knit community.
The Sho-Pai Tribes offer not only a fulfilling workplace focused on cultural values and community but also comprehensive employee benefits, including fully paid health, dental, and vision insurance, retirement contributions, and generous paid leave. These benefits are complemented by professional development opportunities, affordable housing, relocation assistance, and a supportive community environment enriched by powwows, sports, and cultural events. This makes Sho-Pai Tribes an ideal workplace for individuals seeking a stable and meaningful career within a people-centered, sovereign tribal organization.
The role of Assistant HR Director / Benefits Coordinator at Sho-Pai Tribes is a full-time, integral position based in Owyhee, Nevada. Reporting directly to the Human Resources Director, this role focuses on strengthening recruitment, benefits administration, and HR operations. The assistant director will manage full-cycle recruitment, administer employee benefits, maintain employee records, and support various HR programs and initiatives throughout the organization. This hands-on position requires a dynamic individual who can balance multiple responsibilities, including onboarding, employee orientation, compliance, and employee engagement efforts.
In this position, the successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting a positive, people-focused workplace that values collaboration and cultural heritage. The role offers a competitive salary range of $75,000 to $88,000 annually, coupled with fully paid health insurance, retirement contributions, relocation support, and more. This is an excellent opportunity for an HR professional who is detail-oriented, dependable, and capable of handling sensitive information with confidence and care. The assistant director will also have the opportunity to oversee HR functions in the absence of the director, contributing to the leadership and direction of the department.
